"You going out?"
Harry came to a halt, turning around to spot a dirt-covered Neville Longbottom jogging to catch up, a stack of papers cradled to his chest. "Ya, I've got some papers to grade. It's such a nice day, I've been itching to leave the castle since lunch so I figured I'd go and grade some papers by the lake then maybe go flying for a bit."
"You mind if I join you? I've got some papers to grade of my own and I'm in need of some adult company." Neville grinned, chuckling a bit as they started walking towards the exit at a sedate pace. "Today was only first and second years, both were a bit rowdy around the plants."
"Mm, heard a few second years were sent to Pomfrey today. What happened?" Harry asked, curious. The fact they were sent to Pomfrey spread throughout Hogwarts like wildfire, but the cause seemed to have escaped the gossiping students.
"We started with the Mandragora, after having talked about it for a few days. Thankfully, baby Mandrakes aren't as potent as adults. I'd pulled it out of the pot and a few students hadn't put their earmuffs on correctly. The moment it started screaming, a few students fell to the floor. I put 'em back in their pot as quickly as I could without hurting the Mandrake, then rushed the students to the infirmary. They should be fine around dinner time but I took that as an excuse to end class early so I could get some grading done."
Harry laughed at that. "Term started merely weeks ago but it feels like I'm already drowning in paper!"
Companionable silence followed, both taking the time to really enjoy being out of the castle. It really had been a nice day, the sky a light blue, bright white clouds floating past, and a nice breeze could be felt. They didn't mind the sound of screaming children all that much, having grown used to it from their years of teaching at Hogwarts since the war had ended.
They sat under the same tree, taking solace in the shade and comfort of being with someone you were close with and grabbed a few pens they kept in their robe and started on the seemingly never-ending paper staring from their laps.
