"Sure!"
It is now June 30, Serena's birthday. The first one without her birth parents. She misses them. 'Even though my real parents aren't here to celebrate my fourth birthday, my new parents are just as good,' Serena thought while she was waiting for Darien's school bus to turn the corner.
Then she saw it. The big yellow bus she was waiting for. Darien was home.
"Hi Darien!!!" Serena called out.
"Hey Serena. We need to change our plans for this afternoon," Darien answered.
"Why?"
"Mom and Dad are taking us out to eat for your b-day and a late one for me."
"Oh yeah!! Yours was two weeks ago!!"

Darien and Serena's parents came home from work a little late. Usually they were home 45 minutes after Darien did. They spent the other 15 minutes looking for a good restaurant to treat Serena and Darien to.
"Ready to go, you two?" asked Mary.
"Yeah!!" Serena and Darien said in unison.
"Then let's go," said Bill.

The Shields were on their way to the restaurant. 'My old parents never did this for my b-day. Maybe these are better,' Serena thought on the way there. They were almost there when Darien and Serena both heard a loud CRASH. They had slamed into a guard rail and fell down a cliff and were about to hit a tree. 'Oh no. Not again!' Serena recalled the last time this happened. The same thing happened when she lost her other parents and Sammy. They had run into the same tree in the same ditch as the first time for Serena. Her parents were knocked out on impact and Darien was seriously injured at this point. Serena started to scream and this strange aura surrounded her and it carried her out of the wreckage.
Darien had taught her how to call 9-1-1 in an emergency. Serena was calling 9-1-1 right at this moment.
Serena was crying on the way to the hospital. She didn't want to lose another family. She didn't want to lose Darien.
