Double//An SG-1 Valentine's Day Fic
"Daniel, I can't believe you didn't get me anything for Valentine's Day. No candy, no cute little stuffed bears? Not even flowers?"
The archeologist and linguist looked up from the text her was translating, blue eyes looking over the top of his glasses. "Nope."
Vala gave an expressive sigh of frustration as she paced the room. Daniel simply shrugged and went back to his translation, eliciting another irritated sigh from her. Seeing that this still didn't have the desired effect on him, Vala settled on a new tactic, hopping up onto his desk.
"Look, Daniel, I've done my research," she said, clearly expecting him to be impressed. "It is customary to celebrate the holiday of St. Valentine by bestowing gifts on the one you love." Vala made the statement with her eyes closed, as though reciting it verbatim from a dictionary.
Daniel lifted his pen, pausing before giving her a quick glance and returning to his work. "Did you get me anything?"
"Well, no, I didn't," Vala replied, now looking confused and a bit worried as she got down from the desk. "But it doesn't work that way, does it? I mean, I just assumed that-" She stopped abruptly when she caught Daniel's expression. "Why are you smiling? Daniel, you're teasing me!"
The archeologist couldn't resist her stubborn pout, and his smirk turned into a full grin.
"You're unbelievable." Vala rewarded his teasing by hitting him on the back of the head with some of his papers before resuming her position on the desk. "So, Daniel, what did you get me?" Her tone and the swinging of her legs revealed her anticipation.
"Dinner out," he replied simply but truthfully. "Fancy place. Had to get reservations."
Vala was about to express her excitement when a visitor at the door interrupted them. "General O'Neill," she greeted enthusiastically, getting down from Daniel's desk once again. "Daniel's taking me out to dinner.
"Oh, really?" Jack said with a knowing grin. "Almost ready, Danny-boy?"
"Just finishing up," the archeologist replied.
Vala looked back and forth between the two men, once again confused. "Daniel, usually I'm all for adventure and trying new things, but if you really wanted to do a threesome-"
"What? No!" Jack cut in, wanting to dispel that idea as quickly as possible.
Daniel shook his head in amusement at the conclusion she had jumped to. "He's got a date too, Vala," he explained.
"Oh, alright," she replied, and it was difficult to tell whether her expression was relived or disappointed. "So, who's the lucky girl?"
Jack gave a slight chuckle. "Oh, I'm the lucky one," he replied. "She's my wife. I'm pretty sure you've met. Cute little blonde, likes to use big words and take things apart, bit of an attitudeā¦"
