As most of you know, Scarlet Embers has decided to leave the Spyro archive. I've chosen to dedicate this oneshot to her as a means of saying goodbye.

"Farewell, Friend"

Spyro's tail swayed sadly on the ground. His eyes produced more water than the rain that fell mercelessly on him. He stared into the dark oblivion that extended beyond the cliff, the clouds obscuring his view and leaving him unsure of what was ahead. He could hear the sound of his friends' footsteps coming from behind. "Spyro?" said Elora. "You're getting wet. You should come back to Avalar."

"We're worried about you, Spyro. You've been like this for almost two weeks!" said Hunter. "Please come inside."

The depressed purple dragon wiped the snot from his nose. "What's the point? Sparx is dead. I've lost my best friend."

"You have to move on, Spyro," said Elora. "Sparx would have wanted you to."

"Yeah, Spyro! Sparx may be gone, but you still have us!" Hunter said.

Spyro turned around and yelled. "You don't understand! I literally can't live without him! He was kept me going! And now he's gone!" His anger vainshed and he returned to sobbing. "I don't know if I can survive knowing my best friend is gone for good."

Elora came up to him and kissed him. "Spyro, you can move on. Learn to fend for yourself. Sparx isn't here to protect you, but you learn to protect your own self."

"Sparx wouldn't want you to just give up on life. He would want you to live and thrive!" said Hunter.

The dark clouds cleared a little and the rain settled, but not fully. Spyro looked up at his friends and smiled. "You're right. I have to try. I need to keep going."

"Let's go home, Spyro," said Hunter.

"The baby's waiting," said Elora.

Spyro walked with his friend and his wife away from the cliff. He closed his eyes and tearfully said,

"Farewell, Friend"

Scarlet, I don't expect you to return, I don't expect you to review, hell, I doubt you're even going to read this. This story is merely to say that we in the Spyro archive love you and we will all miss you. I'm literally crying as I write this. Your absence feels as if a friend has died. You kept this archive alive. And now, we will have to fend for ourselves. I don't know if this archive can survive without you, but we will try. Goodbye, Scarlet.

~Your fan and friend, Celia
