A/N: I GUESS I HAVE ZERO CONTROL WHATSOEVER!

"A hero? No way, with that quirk is never going to happen!"
"Well, your quirk is….something."
"Isn't your quirk for villains?"
Again, she wanted to cry by their words floating in her mind over and over but her anger shut them down as she used the sleeve of her shirt, roughly cleaning any evidence of tears. The school hallway was empty, all the elementary students had left. Surely excited to tell everything that they did today to their dads and moms while she had to wait outside the principal's office, while speaking with her guardian.
"Mifune-chan, you shouldn't hit your classmates!"
"I told her to shut up and she didn't, is not my fault."
Her nose wrinkled at the pink with hearts band-aids covering some of her knuckles but she focused on the uncovered scabs. Warnings from the school nurse fell on deaf ears, she will continue to tear off her scabs since the little girl didn't like being teased by her classmates. Her stomach sank and her heart skipped a beat by the sound of the door creaking as it opened, meaning the conversation had ended between the two adults. Her guardian's voice says goodbye to the principal and closes the door behind her.
Anxiety gripped her chest, twisting it into horrible knots.
She wasn't afraid of her guardian, Maite was just afraid of what she would think of her because this is the first time they call her from school, and she usually would send one of her sidekicks. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw her the adult squatting next to her seat, not minding how she was invading her space
"Honey, can you — hey stop that you're going to get more scabs."
An olive hand with neatly clipped claws settled on top of her hand, stopping her before she could do any more damage. A shaky sigh came through her nose and took the courage to lift her gaze and face the sharp orange gaze of her aunt.
"Okay, now can you please tell me what happened?"
Confusion pinched her small eyebrows. "I thought Mr. Nobuo told you?"
Irritation flashed briefly through her eyes, and Maite dislikes it. Noriyo was the one who always attended these things and told everything to her guardian, Noriyo was a tall woman, taller than her aunt and with intimidating features, because of that, no parents dare to raise their voice and complain about what she had done. Noriyo never raise her voice to defend her, it was not necessary, with a smile with those sharp teeth and yellow eyes could silence anyone.
"Yes, he explained me with excruciating details what had happened but…" The woman paused, looking between her knuckles and her face. "I would like to hear your version."
Her aunt's hand move towards her cheek, gently caressing her red cheeks with a knuckle. An affectionate gesture undid the fear in her stomach.
"Saika-sensei told us today we were going to explain our quirks to the class and then when it was my turn, Meguri, you know the girl with grass hair?" A small nod from her aunt she got and continue. "She began to say that I was a bad guy because my quirk is ugly. I ignored them like you told me and when recess started, Meguri started yelling I was a villain and I should go away and then and then…."
"And then you punch her, right in the nose." Her aunt finished.
Maite nodded, her only intention was to silence that dumb grass-haired Meguri. She didn't think her fist was going to make her bleed so much from her nose! A deep sigh came from her aunt and it sounded disappointed, making the girl slunk in her seat.
"We've talked before about your temper and strength." She began, using both of her hands to cup the girl's cheeks. Her olive fingers got wet from the tears that fell easily on her niece's cheeks, shoulders slightly bobbing by her quiet sobs. She made the little girl look at her again, offering a smile with pride in her eyes.
"But you know what?"
Maite sniffed loudly and replied. "What?"
"This time you didn't use this as the last time." Her aunt indicated, and Maite briefly cast a glance on the long-limbed, hiding behind her back and frowned at her guardian. "And that tells me, you're having more control of your tail and that deserves ice cream. Napolitano as always, right?"
Astonishment filled her features followed by a confident smile stretching her cheeks, Maite jumped out of the chair and followed her aunt, letting the girl hold her clawed hand. Her methods of raising her niece may be a bit unusual, for many parents they would see it with disapproving eyes, but Ragyo would do anything just to see how that smile illuminate her niece's face.

.
"I'm just a villain vying for attention from a girl. A girl who can't decide and here's the reason why…girls love girls and boys..." She stopped mouthing the lyrics, letting the chorus sing away in her earbuds, shifting in her seat while being careful of not letting her friend's head fall boy with curly hair didn't stir by the movement, still using her shoulder as a pillow. Not even five minutes have passed since they boarded the train and the boy was already dozing quietly. The train doors closed with a metallic clank and the wheels squeak as they began to pull forward, heading towards the next station.
She knows her destination was approaching. For years she learned that she only has to pass two stops to get to the station near her school, and even so, Maite will never avoid the feeling she was going to make the mistake of getting off in the wrong station. Her pale pink eyes focused on the head of her friend who seemed to be waking up, lazy grunts were muffled against her shoulder as he straightened up, both of his eyes were closed since the intense light of the train could hurt him.
"I was about to let you fall, I think my shoulder fell asleep." she chided playfully, watching as her friend taking his time in stretching his body. "I can see the bags under your eyes. What did you do all night?"
He pursed his lips, his right claw-hand try to accommodate his hair which it was suffering a bad bed-head. Maite coked an eyebrow and smirked, she could literally see her friend was mulling over his answer.
"Did someone offended your husband?"
The blonde-haired boy huffed, with his nose in the air. "As if I'm going to let some bitches talk trash about All Might."
Several people from the train cast curious glances, others annoyed by the small argument that started between the two students. In vain attempt, Maite tried to appease her friend who got more and more irritated by her combined snorts and giggles.
"Stop pinching my cheeks you stupid-head!"
"Then stop laughing at my husband!"
"Ay, ay! I'm - I'm not! Banri your claws, the claws!"
A female voice announced through the speakers that the next station was approaching and several passengers began to stand up, heading towards the metal doors. Maite got the other to release her cheeks, now red, but the male continued ranting about how he spent the whole night arguing with another person on the internet.
"–And they got the nerve to call my hero ugly! I swear on my life if I find that damn garbage I'll strangle them."
"What are you going to do with the body?"
"I will give it to Baihu, and let him chew it like a toy."
"Ahm, no? What if he gets a stomach ache?"
The metal doors opened and people immediately left the wagon, with her friend behind her, they followed everyone at a fast pace to be able to let others go inside. Without interrupting she let Banri blow her ear off by how to prepare the perfect murder. What word would she use to describe her friendship with Aikawa Banri? Weird, it would be the perfect word that her other classmates would use. Being in a friendship with a boy with narcissistic problems, incapable of not judging someone by their appearance and one of his most remarkable traits, a resting bitch face, you had to be prepared for all the problems you were going to face.
Well, that was what her classmates warned her about when she'd started hanging out with him.
From small exchanges of words, they became full conversations in the phone that ended up to the point when one of their parents had to scold them for staying up so late. They shared the same tastes of music, the same junk food, and the same bad comedies they watch on the internet although Maite didn't have the same obsession to know everything and buy everything from the most famous hero from the whole country.
Of course, she didn't deny that she had her own obsession with a certain fat hero.
Their school wasn't so far from the station, they just had to cross some streets, and follow a familiar road covered with pink petals. One of the things Maite liked about her school was the tall trees decorated with pink cups.
A mesmerizing sight.
Both teenagers sat in their assigned seats, Maite in front of Banri, while they threw and answered the greetings and good mornings from their classmates, their teacher hasn't yet arrived but that gave them time for some students who were running late. The chatter among the students increased, happy to talk among themselves and some not very happy to start another day at school.
A pair of high heels clinked in the corridor and the 3-A homeroom teacher entered.
"Morning, everyone!"
Everyone greeted the teacher back. "Good morning, Goto-sensei!"
"As I said yesterday, we must hurry to finish some pages of your books but…" The woman with a head of a jellyfish paused, a sweet smile crossing her lips. "I did say we have to take a look about your careers, didn't I?"
All her students burst in enthusiastic cheers. Chatter started again among the teenagers, eager to finally talk about their dreams but it's as clear as the water, it wasn't a unique dream. Among every student of Japanese schools wants to become a hero with those skills that appear at the age of four. And she was one of them like her friend Banri although they had their own reasons why they wanted to pursue the heroic career.
With the help of the president of the classroom the teacher began to hand out the papers to each one student, Maite thanked the bear girl when she handed her the paper and continued to distribute the papers to the others. Maite turned in her seat to start talking with her friend.
"So, what did your parents say about your idea?" She inquired, recalling in his text message how he's going to convince his parents to let him study in the high school he wanted to go to. "Did they say yes?"
"Ah yeah, but they only accepted with one condition." He replied with shrug. "They'll have to take me there by car."
Maite rolled her eyes and scoffed by his pout. "Oh no, what a terrible condition. Poor you."
"Hey, at least I'm not going walk that much." Banri retorted. "The school is literally on the other side of the city."
"You're only enrolling to this school just because of the uniform." Maite pointed out.
"At least I'm going to look cute in the adorable hat and no in that lame-ass uniform of U.A."
Other two students who were nearby exchanged a glance, watching in amusement how the two of them were doing their usual antics.
"Are you talking about Shiketsu? I heard the students need to wear their hats in their costumes, something about the school's dignity." Yuuko commented, catching their attention.
And Taro with her big eyebrows added. "That's right and it's like the only high school that can match up to U.A."
"It's the best school for heroes in training in the west, Aikawa." Yuuko mention as he looks between the two of them. "And Mifune is going to be in U.A, right?
"Ah, it's a shame you two are going to be separated."
"Yeah, it's gonna suck without you two."
Maite just nodded and shrugged her shoulders, the blonde-haired boy noticed the quiet response so he continued with the conversation with the other two. Oh, how she's grateful for Banri, noticing how her shoulder slump slightly by the other's comment and she knew their comments didn't hold anything mean, Yuuko and Taro aren't like that but she couldn't help to overthinking by their words. There are times when her mind likes to bring those cruel moments, she spent alone for the first year in middle school, Maite was born in a generation where if you don't have a quirk they would label you as useless and unfortunately she was one of the students who just watched and kept quiet while others annoyed merciless with their comments, and Maite was afraid that unnecessary attention would fall on her.
But that was already in the past!
Maite turned into a new leaf with a good dose of confidence from Banri, so now she's able to express her mind with lots of sarcasm and creative insults. A nostalgic smile crossed her features, remembering every word from the blonde with emerald eyes.
'A villain quirk? The only scary quirk I've seen is the one of not able to sleep, now that is some scary shit.'
How on earth will she survive without the presence of her best friend? It's decided she and Banri couldn't study together, now that his parents agreed for him to attend to Shiketsu while she preferred to assist the top Hero Academy in Japan. Now the difficult part comes, everything is going to be new to her, she's going to assist regularly to this school and she had learned the hard way that it's necessary to have friendships but to make friends Maite had to talk to new people and she has to say interesting things about her because that saying about just be yourself is full of bullshit.
"Alright everyone! Be quiet please." The melodious voice of their teacher interrupted everyone's conversation, indicating the 15 minutes she had given them had finally ended. "I'm assuming you already finish filling those career corms~."
"Yes, Goto-sensei!"

Classes came to an end by the loud ringing bell from the Nabu building, cheerful students were chatting among themselves, exchanging plans for the afternoon and others just wanted to go home and rest. Maite was one of those students, longing for her comfortable bed to have a good nap time, in need to charge energy because sleeping until 2 in the morning isn't healthy and despite the consequences, she still doesn't learn.
[TIARAGYIO] – i put money in your card. i need some stuff
[TIARAGYIO] – thumbtacks, a pack of sheets and pens
[TIARAGYIO] – you can buy yourself a snack i might come back later
sure no problem – [MAITE]
But she could later bury herself in her bed and sleep all day, now she was wandering through the aisles of the supermarket, with the items on her shopping cart and checking out the snacks she wanted to eat today.
"That's going to be my hero name, chicken wings because I can't think of anything else," Banri whined, his sulking mood didn't affect her while she observed every brand of cookies. Ignoring the fact that her aunt will scold her later for buying junk food instead of something healthy but the text was clear: Maite can buy any snack she wants.
"I give up, I don't want to be a hero."
"Do you want smores Oreos or velvet Oreos?" Maite asked as she held both boxes.
"Both."
Maite dropped the two blue boxes inside her shopping cart where Banri was occupying most of the space, sitting on a pillow which he took so he wouldn't feel the hard edges of metal against his back. The blonde-haired boy had accepted the invitation to accompany her to the mall, saying he had nothing to do this afternoon.
"I just reaaaally want a good hero name!" He groaned, dragging the word loudly while scrolling through his phone. Probably checking some all might stuff on the internet
The girl shushed him by his loud whine. "You won't have any trouble finding a hero name, I mean in your high school I bet they'll help you out."
Banri frowned at that. "How?"
Maite turned the shopping cart to the next aisle, shelves full of coffee and tea surrounding them. "You can literally become like a bird and fly but maybe your hero name doesn't have to state your quirk. Like for example Endeavor."
Banri shot her a confused glare. "What about him?"
"That man could've literally name himself the torch man but he chose a name like that."
Banri tilted his head with an unamused glare which it literally screamed 'are you serious right now?' and the girl with light pink hair wasn't able to hold the embarrassed giggles.
"That was the worst example you could give. The torch man?"
"I know, I know! But you get it and at least you got it easy and not like me."
"Eh, what do you mean? Gorgon is a perfect hero name!"
Maite guided her cart aside, not wanting to hit the person who was looking at the shelves and continued. "I'm not going to name myself after creature who's evil and can turn everyone into stone."
"Uhm, excuse me? Didn't you put attention to history?" Banri began as he straightened up a bit. "Medusa was cursed because of her beauty and then was killed by some stupid man and she didn't do anything wrong but being beautiful and there's nothing wrong being beautiful!"
Again, she shushes him frantically due to his voice rising up and she isn't up of being kicked out by someone from the staff of the mall.
"Ew, look at him!"
"He looks like a dead person!"
"Is he a skeleton?"
Both teenagers stopped and directed their glances behind them by these loud snobby voices, their attention seemed to be attracted by these giggles among kids who were probably eight years old, but what were they laughing at? Maite could easily connect the reason and made an uncomfortable grimace. At an early age, she knew that children can be cruel when it comes with quirks and appearances, judging you immediately if you don't have an interesting or flashy quirk. Maite dark brows knitted together at the lack of response from the adult but she could tell by the tall man's shoulder slightly flinching, he was uncomfortable by the commentary from the kids.
And she knew by the small wings on the back of his back, puffing up, Banri wasn't going to keep his mouth shut.
"Hey!" Banri's bark catches the kids and even the adult by surprised and sent a fake smile to them. "Can you please stop doing that? It's not very polite to do that."
"Mind your own business you shitty weirdo!"
The sweet fake smile drops and replaces with a deadpan smirk. "Okay, I'm done being nice."
She kept the cart in place with a firm grip so the other had no problem jumping off it and start chasing the children, who shouted in surprise and ran away with their tails between their legs. With her long limb, she tapped the man by the shoulder before he had the intention to pursue her friend, and offered him a friendly smile as he turned around to face her.
"You alright, sir?"
The tall man blinked at her, trying to understand what just happened in front of him but he grinned at her nervously anyway. "I'm okay young lady, but your friend – it wasn't necessary for him to do that."
"To defend you from some mean kids?" His grin faltered and he did not know how to respond but Maite shrugged one shoulder. "I mean he's not going to hit them or something like that, Banri's probably going to yell for their mothers."
Her explanation didn't seem to convince the tall man and she pursed her lips, thinking of a reasonable explanation of her friend's actions. How to explain that your friend has a strange way of defending someone? The loudspeaker at the shopping center comes to life and instead of announcing a new promotion in the fruit section, the voice of a tired woman notify about a boy waiting for Maite Mifune in the bench of lost children.
Letting out a long sigh through her nose as she felt the heat crawl up in her throat and cheeks, several thoughts running through her mind and most of them were the many ways of how to hit Banri.
Maite showed him another polite smile and licked her dry lips. "Sorry, I need to go right now because you know, yeah." And she turned around, not looking at the bemused reaction of the tall man.
.
.
.
With her paid items in plastic bags and after saying goodbye to her lost child, she headed home without deviating from her course. Her favorite music blasted through her headphones, swaying her head with the rhythm of a song as she waited for the traffic light to turn green. Her pale pink eyes began to wander to the other group who also waited for the green light. She found a man with a giraffe head wearing an expensive suit, not far from there were two women talking about their lives, one of them had elephant ears while the other had bubbled hair. On the right side of the group, there was a couple holding hands, the man had chicken legs and the woman seemed to have hair made of chains.
'What a world, it seems to have come out of a cartoon.' She muses mildly amused. The cars stop and the traffic light indicates to the pedestrians that it was their turn to walk.
It took her another twenty minutes to get to her neighborhood, tall houses with black metal bars and security cameras. It was an area where usually wealthy people could afford to have, with their expensive cars parked outside. Her aunt doesn't like cars, she knows how to drive one but due to her physical form, she couldn't use one without ripping something with her claws.
As Maite opened the metal door her reaction to this blur of white and grey was shrieking in surprised but it only change into joyful giggles, closing the door behind her, she greeted him with that ridiculous tone of voice that anyone uses to a dog. Maite could still remember the surprise that her aunt brought on her eleventh birthday. Years of pleading her guardian at unexpected moments, years of showing her that she was an independent girl and ready for responsibility; washing the dishes, doing her homework on time and even using the washing machine.
Even she apologized when she turned all the shirts of her uniform into a pale green tone.
Apparently, you shouldn't mix colors with whites.
An adorable puppy of only eight months covered in a white blanket, dark brown eyes full of curiosity and attentive around him. Her aunt had explained how she got this little ball of fur. There were people who illegally used dogs of various breeds to create fights, and the authority had requested the help of her aunt in order to capture them.
"So this little guy doesn't have a home?"
"No, and well since it's your birthday, I thought it's time for you to have a dog."
"So it's mine!? Is he or she!? Can hite sleep with me!? I promise I'll take care of it!"
Oh, how many photos she'd been taken with that puppy of fur between, white and grey. Maite had completely fallen in love with this dog that had a resemblance to the Shiba and one day when she took him to the vet for his checkup, what a surprise it was to discover that he wasn't a Shiba, he was an an earth her guardian wasn't able to see to notice the difference between an Akita and a Shiba?
"Hello, my precious baby! I'm home, did you miss me? I miss you too!" Maite cooed as she scratched his fur with one hand, earning happy whines from the big dog. "Were you a good boy? Yes, you're always a good boy!"
"You know that he's not baby? And he can't understand you." A snobby voice from her right said. "You're so weird Mai-chan!"
The pink haired girl straightened up and shot an unamused glared to the little girl, not caring that she was sitting on a two-meter wall. "Don't call me that."
"Aw but it sounds cute!" The girl giggled, swinging her legs.
Maite wasn't having it with that adorable gesture of the other. "Get down from there Nana or you'll break a leg and I'm not going to call an ambulance this time."
"I don't need the wee-woo truck!" The little girl exclaim with false confidence.
Maite cocked a dark eyebrow and tilted her head. "Oh really?"
"Yeah, I'm a big girl and I don't need your help."
"Okay without using your quirk, get down from there."
Maite laughed out loud by the blank expression from the other girl, and she took two steps forward and extended her long limb towards the girl, deciding that it was better to lower her from the fence before she could actually break something.
"You really have cool quirks, Maite. A tail hand and you can become a gaboon!" Nana pointed out, her orange sandals tocuhing the ground. "What're we gonna eat today?"
She breathed out a laugh by the short attention from the 6-year-old. "I'm going to try new a recipe I saw on the internet. "
"Does it go with chicken?"
Maite opened the front door, letting the big dog and the small girl enter first. "I don't think so, but i'll check if i'm able to put chicken on it."
"Okay, can we have rice with milk for dessert?"
.
.
.
Like every afternoon at home, she would prepare something for the two of them and they would eat together in front of the television so that the girl wouldn't get bored. As always, Nana left home and thanked for the food every time it was 4 o'clock in the afternoon. She fed her dog, fixed the house a little bit, although it wasn't necessary since it was always clean, it was a big house after all. Wearing comfortable clothes, a large glass of milk and her packet of velvet Oreo are in her lap since the other box had gone with her best friend, Maite lay on the comfortable sofa and let the dog lie down next to her and turned on the television to watch her sitcom about detectives and yogurt.
Many parents said that it wasn't a good idea to leave their children alone in the house, they feared that strangers or villains would attack the house or the children might cause a mess in the house. Ragyo never had to worry about that, with the help of her sidekicks in the agency her niece was always being taken care of, even though that was supposed to be her job. Ragyo was so grateful for her sidekicks for helping her on so many birthdays that she had not attended, for helping her in situations about school, and for her support and understanding every time she left a sleepy niece in the arms of her sidekicks.
The main door was always locked, a rule that she had pierced on the mind of her niece but Ragyo didn't always find this adorable image in her living TV still on, a half-empty box of cookies on the small table and curled up with blanket her niece slept without problems. A quiet growl coming from the floor took her out of her thoughts and she smiled at the white dog who didn't get up from his place but his tail wagged, showing her that he was happy to see her.
Not caring that her gear clothes reeked of sweat and there was probably vomit stain on her pants Ragyo sat on the sofa, being careful not to disturb her niece, an aloud sigh came from her nose as she felt her muscles and joints relax completely and with a clawed hand began to caress the head of her niece, letting her fingers and being careful with her claws interlace in that colorful hair.
Yeah, even though she wasn't a perfect maternal or paternal figure, everything seemed fine.
A/N: like i said before, no control.
Thank you so much for giving a chance to this mess! if you see any like some bad grammar im sorry, my first language is not english, so sorry, but you can totally tell me the errors!
