A/N: For the two week wait until the Devie wedding ceremony in Happily Everything After (if you haven't read it, take a look!), this is your gift. I recommend you watch the video beforehand if you are not familiar with the song. I don't own Rumors by Re3ab feat. Sofia Carson or the Disney Descendants characters I used. Sorry, read on...
Evie and Chad, two people who don't belong in the same sentence.
All because of one night together, things went wrong and eliminated any association with one another.
Her friends told her that she could do better. But when she expressed interest in the Prince, she saw that everything she ever wanted was there, right in front of her lovestruck eyes. Meeting under the bleachers, Evie was manipulated into doing Chad's homework, but the feeling of accomplishment as she stared into his blue eyes, made her knees weak.
To celebrate Jay and Carlos making it on the Tourney team, a party was held a few nights before the big game against the Sherwood Falcons. Located in the Captain's dorm, also the Ben's room fit for a King, Evie and Mal arrived together and Ben had welcomed them in. A few people were gawking at the sight of the now four VKs in the room. From Jay to Carlos to Evie to Mal, a few people crowded towards the door, hoping they'd make a getaway if villainy suddenly broke loose.
Much to Evie's surprise, she spotted her, not quite boyfriend––but boyfriend, Chad. She assumed they were nearly a couple since he expressed an interest in her, trusted her to his property and called her "babe." What better could she have done, as in the matter of two days she landed an almost boyfriend without any prior experience, who happened to be a prince. Not to mention a totes cute one at that.
He made eye contact and she flirtatiously smiled. "So, you, like got the packet done right?" He asked approaching her as she gave a small nod. He squeezed her hand, giving her a charming smile. And with a wink, he left her once again. Evie was left confused as she stared at him as he spoke with three cheerleaders who surrounded him with giggles. She watched as he all gave them the same smile he gave her. And in a split second, she identified his tricks. All the while as she was infatuated by him, she had let herself get played.
"Oh, the douchebag" Evie murmured under her breath as her eyes become slits and she looked to her side to see no one there. Mal had gone to the corner of the room in an attempt to hide from Ben who seemed to be way too fascinated by the purple-locked fairy.
Once again, Evie made eye contact with the "not-so charming" prince who winked at her and she put her hands on her hips, something she did when unruly intentions came upon her.
At half past 10, Evie had counted the times Chad had made eye contact with her and for Mal's sake, how many times Ben had tried to start a conversation. Much to the young fairy's displeasure, it was nearly as many times as Chad looked at Evie. She felt a pair of blue eyes on her as Fairy Godmother had come through to give a schippel on clean up and curfew, her specialties.
I can feel you watchin' me, Evie thought as some people had well wished the Tourney team to victory as Chad had bit his lip when she turned and their eye met. Evie rolled her eyes. Flirting wars it was.
Bring.
It.
On.
He approached her as he was stopped a few times by people wanting to wish him luck and chat a bit. All your friends are trying to leave.
After a couple delays, he finally had reached the blue haired princess who drew a smile on her face and batted her eyelashes as naturally as she could. The first words he spoke to her were exactly what she suspected, You hit me with that one line. I know that you said it 'bout a hundred times. Though she never dated anyone on the isle or experienced this level of flirting and fling behavior in return, she knew every next step. The steps she knew by heart and would use against the poor unfortunate souls who would fall into her traps every time.
You got me all wrong. Don't you know who, you're talking to? Oh, but what Chad didn't know, was that she knew what he was up to. She had the edge. Perhaps she made herself appear dense and submissive, well when she isn't lovestruck, but besides the point, she was smarter than he. This was her forte. She could manipulate and would always be a step ahead as he pulled every basic trick an amateur flirt would know. You got me all wrong.
Though Doug and Mal had warned her that Chad was a dunce and a player, she had ignored every suggestion, especially that of Mal, for she was inexperienced in anything relating to love. Of course Evie knew he was no good, but what fun is it to let someone so charming, so rich and so handsome go? She knew she had her prince scheme wrapped around her finger. I heard about you. And what you do...
"Don't you know the rumors? They talk about, talk about you, boy" Evie blurted as he gave her look. He shrugged and she pursed her lips in a smirk. "They say that you're never gonna treat me right. I know that your forever's only one night, one night"
Chad came closer to her, taking her hand as she almost snorted, at his clumsy gesture. "Never, babe. Those are just lies. I'm not a player" he said as he seemed to be reciting a speech. She read his face and immediately saw through his eyes that flickered to the left, indicating he was fabricating everything that came out his mouth.
Evie just gave a cute, smile back as he caressed her palm and she pretended to be impressed. He took her hand and guided her to the middle of the floor. A few of the cheerleaders scoffed, rolling their eyes as a few of the Tourney guys skeptically looked at the blue eyed prince and blue haired girl. Hades, he can't dance if his life depended on it, Evie thought as he sloppily dipped her to the point that if she hadn't been a dancer, she would have fell on the floor. A few second after the song was over, he attempted to win her over by giving her a long stare.
Unfortunately for Chad, he had no idea who he was messing with. The talk of the Isle and now the talk of Auradon Prep, Evie was an expert flirt, only rival to Jay. She burst into laughter as Chad snapped out of his antics and frowned. "Don't you know the rumors? They talk about, talk about me too, boy. I know that your intentions are as bad as mine. So let's pretend forever's only one night, one night" Evie informed him as his mouth gaped. Before words could flow out his mouth, Evie had already took the initiative.
"So I hit you with that one line. Tonight you met your match. I hope you realize that, You got me all wrong, Now you know who. You're talking to. You got me all wrong" she said her brow raised. Completely stunned, Chad just went with it, cheeks a slight tint of pink. Evie made moves that Chad had never experience before and had no idea how to react to. She put her hands in his, shyly gazing at him with pursed lips.
"I heard about you. And what you do. Don't you know the rumors? They talk about, talk about you, boy. They say that you're never gonna treat me right. I know that your forever's only one night, one night" Evie whispered in his ear, as she unexpectedly wrapped his arms around his shoulders and he loosely held her back. As awkward as it was for Chad, Evie was having the an evil time of her life. How wickedly proud her mother would have been, if she was witnessing the flawlessness of everything she ever instructed her daughter to do, as if her skills were being tested in a final test.
Oh, she knew that she'd be the talk of the school tomorrow, Chad would probably come to avoid her and sooner or later if their plan went accordingly, all of Auradon would be at the peril of villainy. But who says a girl can't have any fun?
"Don't you know the rumors? They talk about, talk about me too, boy. I know that your intentions are as bad as mine. So let's pretend forever's only one night, one night" Evie said, skillfully removing her embrace and pressing a kiss to his cheek. With a pivot of the foot, she switched away, purposefully making her legs work. Flipping her hair and turning around. She flirtatiously smirked with a light finger wave. With one final glance and a wink, Evie flipped her hair back around and left the room.
Their fling was a whopping half-hour, hardly one night. But there was one thing Chad would never forget. It had a blue mane and whipped right past him like nothing he had ever experienced before. The polished moves, the purposeful gestures, there was no girl like her. No flirt like her. As quickly as the wind, she had gone and as slow as the drying of paint, Evie would leave his perplexed heart to wring itself out from the whirlwind love affair.
Humiliation and a lack of association, the the blue eyed jock would never belong to the same sentence as the blue-haired beauty, again.
