"Well, My Lord it seems today you can have the day off. Seeing as you have done more work then usual..." one of his loyal servants mumbled, stacking the papers neatly.

"Haha, is that so!? Sweet, Well then I'll be off!" the Lord turned on his heel, exiting the room he entered just seconds before.

"Why did you send him off? Yesterday he didn't even touch his paper work." one of the workers questioned, "Do you know what day it is today?" growled another, a sharpe glare fixed on him. "Don't be so harsh on him, he just joined us a few weeks before." he sighed, tacking the bundle of papers and placing them on his desk. "Every year, on the 14th, our lord feels lost, like he is forgetting something."

"And that being whom exactly?" the rookie questioned, staying clear from his co-worker he agitated before. "His wife, Iris." he answered, working on the stack and taking out a stamp.

"Why can't we just have him work?" then a smack echoed throughout the room."Ow..." whined the rookie.

"Idiot, that would be insensitive of us. Plus, we've tried before. Thinking he would really work that time. But he was just depressed and wanted to find Iris" grumbled one of the demons.

'But... We're demons... We aren't exactly suppose to be "sensitive'' ' the new demon thought, keeping it to himself though, not wanting another smack.

~Iris~

The Demon Lord strolled through the halls, smiling at the pretty girls he walked past. Smirking to himself when he heard their giggles behind his back. 'Ah the day of love. I'm sure to get all the pretty ladies today.' he thought to himself as he entered his chambers.

When he entered, cool wind welcomed him. "Hm... Odd." he said out loud, not remembering if he left them open or not. ''Then again,'' He started, "I don't remember much of what I do." he flopped himself on the bed, at the four walls around him.

"For example." He sat up quick, and leaped off the bed with a grunt. "In this dresser here I have games I haven't played for years." the Lord smiled, reaching in to pick a few copies. "Should give them to En, sometime soon." He placed them on top of the wooden dresser. And continued to roam his bedroom.

"Ah! And behind the curtains..." he exclaimed, jogging to the windows. Tearing them from the wall, "... Is where you are love." He stared at the pale skin, beautiful silk hair the painter could never capture, and her soft delicate eyes. Long lashes laced around them.

"Iris, dear..." He stepped forward, reaching to the painting, tracing his hand around his cheek. "I'm... Why was I such a fool my love?" he questioned, having both arms on each side of the frame.

He turned, and went to grab a chair and sat in front of the canvas, leaning on one hand. Staring in to her eyes, and trying to capture her every feature. "I should have killed that painter who has done this..." He growled, "He did a good job yes, but couldn't paint out the true beauty of yourself."

Another gust of wind blew in to the room, he watched as the curtains there danced, and covered the sight of a figure. The demon stood, walking to a cup board and took two wine glasses in one hand, while searching for a well aged wine.

He went out to his balcony, and set a glass on the rail in front the woman next to him. "Hope you still enjoy wine." He smiled softly, while pouring her a glass. "Why, a glass or two shouldn't hurt now." Iris smiled back, reaching for her glass, but the other pulled it away from her.

"What is it?" she asked, hand still in mid air. The green haired male lowered his head, having it lay in the palm of her hand. "Hm... Nothing." he chuckled. He didn't feel her from much, for she wasn't there with him entirely. When he peered at her, she was some what translucent.

Iris grabbed her glass, and placed it back on the railing, not letting her hand leave her husband's cheek. She reached for his hand, and placed it on her own. "If thats how it is then." she smiled.

They stayed like that, for some time. Then the Demon Lord let a sigh out. "My dear, I known I've done wrong. Never paying attention to you, but you must come back. Staying in the human world, it isn't well for your health." he held her hand closer to himself.

The woman only smiled, brushing his hair away from his eyes. "How are my children love?" She asked, seeing his green eyes. "In fine hands. Hilda is looking after Beelzebub IV, and Nico as well. Along with a human by the name of Oga Tatsumi. And his... Man servant I believe, Furuichi Takayuki." he looked down a bit, guilty that he hasn't spent much time with his youngest. "And En is doing fine. He manages to visit his siblings now and then. He and Nico seem to have taken a liking of Oga's man servant." he stated.

His love let our a light laugh, and he looked up back to her, "My love, didn't you know? Oga and Furuichi are together. 'Man servant' " she smiled, "Together? What?" he looked at her with confusion. "They have their own love between them, as we do." she said sweetly. Letting her hand fall from his face and turning to grab a sip of wine.

"Are... How do you know?" he asked in disbelief, taking a swing from the bottle. "It, just seemed that they held each other so close. Not with their bodies, but their hearts." she explained, her eyes looking above them. "Crazy where love can bloom. Isn't? Like you and I for example." she laughed softly, looking at her husband.

He gave her a bashful expression "I know I'm a idiot. But, our time together wasn't in vain right?" He asked, moving closer to his wife. "I was talking about myself." She laughed, "You, being a powerful demon, and I, a demon of no class. Too kind to be a demon." she said softly, brushing her love's bangs away from his eyes once more.

When he was about to say something once more, she started something before. "Why haven't you cut your hair?" he let out a annoyed sigh, but had his smile placed on again. "I only want you to cut my hair. Though, at times these blasted bangs poke my eyes and I trim them myself."

"Hm... I see" she smiled, placing her hand on his cheek once more. "My love..." she began, "I... I know... " He took in a deep breath, his words some what broken.

"I promise to visit once more next year." Her husband nodded, and grabbed her wrist, pulling it a bit from his face and placed small kisses from her wrist, up to her finger tips. "See you soon... Dear heart." and smiled softly. As she gave him a peck on the lips.

He closed his eyes, and when they opened again, she was gone. He let out a sigh, and stared out in space. Taking a sip of the bottled wine.

"Today, is the day of you, my love, Iris' Day. I promise."

He went back into his room and sat in front of the painting and fell asleep there. Dreaming, and unconsciously forgetting the woman in the painting.
