2010

It was pouring rain in Godric's Hollow on the evening of May seventh. Thunder could be heard, loudly, in the small village and lightning could be seen very clearly. All the inhabitants were sleeping soundly except for one family. The inhabitants of number 6. Harry and Ginny Potter were lying in the bed of the biggest bedroom contemplating how long it would take.

After a particularly large lightening streak and the sound of footsteps approaching, Harry grinned and said, "Not long now." A few moments later the door creaked open and a little redhead ran in, her feet matching the pitter-patter of the rain. The four-year-old peeked her head over the side of the bed and her mother wordlessly moved the covers over so that she could climb up. She did so and then crawled over her mother and buried her face in her father's chest. Ginny chuckled as the sound of more footsteps could be heard and the already-pushed-open door was pushed open further.

Six-year-old Albus climbed up on his father, cuddling into his other side as Lily stuck her tongue out at him. He stuck his out too but then jumped when he heard the thunder. Dipping his head back down, they waited for the last inhabitant to emerge. When he didn't, Ginny gently slid out of the bed and crept down the hall. The second biggest bedroom's light was on and when Ginny pushed open the door, she saw a shaking figure sitting on the bed.

He jumped when he heard her enter. "Hey, little man," she whispered.

"Oh. Hey, Mum. I'mnotscaredI'justnottired." He said it quickly but Ginny had no problem understanding him. Besides, Lily and Al might have been Daddy's Girl and Boy, but James was definitely a Momma's Boy.

She leaned down in front of him and said, "I know, silly. But, you see, I am. Daddy and Al are comforting Lily and I was just wondering if you could come look after me. I'm really scared. Could you do that?" He jumped up as if the bed burned him and nodded his head vigorously.

"Well, come on, what are you waiting for?" Eight-year-old James seized her hand and pulled her towards her room.

When they got there, Harry, Albus and Lily looked up. "James is going to keep me company." Ginny winked at Harry and he smiled knowingly. Lily didn't comment and Al said a sarcastic, "Right."

As the family of five curled up in the king sized bed, the storm raged a war outside. But they didn't care, they had each other. James fell asleep against his mother and she smiled at her first born.

After all, she wasn't the one afraid of thunder storms.
