The first shortcut I ever posted here. And maybe the first I've ever written. I found it on my hard drive today and found out that I still like it. I did my best to avoid any grammatical faults, but if there are some I'm very sorry.

Please review. Even if it is bad, just tell me in your own interest, because if I just get good reviews I'll keep on posting. To avoid that tell me the truth if you don't like it ;)

Please don't let this turn into something it's not…

He was alone. Sitting in the darkness of his basement. Not completely alone, of course, because he had his boat and a bottle of Scotch – his best friends in so many moments in the past.

But though he was alone. She left him. But not without leaving something behind. Something like a huge headache, caused by contact between his head and a golf stick.

The reason she did this to him, was that she found out about his last mistake. Or his last big luck – however you'd like to see it.

"So, Probie, you see rule number 12 is right, Romance between co-workers never works. I hope you learn from this."

He had to laugh a bitter laughter. The rule was right – he had felt that on his own now and he had learned it, but it was too late.

It had bad consequences, His wife left him. Not that he wasn't used to divorces, but he was mainly worried of her lawyers to clean his bank accounts. They had splitted their bank accounts, so they could barely take away his money, but with lawyers in combination with ex-wifes you never know. Especially not with ex wifes that are lawyers and have many lawyer-friends. He never trusted them… perhaps he should made up a rule from it… He had to smile a little.

He wasn't sorry she left – he didn't love her any more anyways. That was the reason for the romance with his co-worker.

But he was sorry that she, his co-worker, had decided to break up their romance, too.

He really loved her. But she messed with his feelings and throw him away when she had enough. And the irony of all this was, that it made him love her even more.

Before they got involved with each other, they had worked together for many years. He taught her everything she knew and later they worked together as an equal team – and got closer.

Maybe they could have stayed the great team they were. Maybe she would have stayed with him if he hadn't hesitated to divorce his wife. Maybe... What would have been? He would never know...

The truth was, that he really missed her. He missed her so much. But he knew, that she wouldn't come back. She was too proud for that. She had always been very self-confident and very fixed on her aims. She would go her way without looking back on him and perhaps they would meet again with her as his boss… He had to commit a bitter smile and took his bottle of Scotch to have a big gulp…

Please just save me from this darkness…..
