"Dude, how are you gonna tell your mom you flunked two of your tests?" Kenny asked his best friend, "she's gonna be pissed."

Eric gave him a confident smile. "Don't worry. I have a strategy."

"Well I guess you'd better star working on that strategy," Kenny said, "there's your house."

OOOOOOOOOOOOO-OOOOOOOOOOOO

Eric took a deep breath.

"Mom? Can…can I talk to you?"

Liane didn't look up from the chicken she was marinating, "what is it sweetie?"

A shrill cry came out from the brunette's mouth. Liane quickly dropped what she was doing and ran to her wailing son.

"Eric! Eric, sweetie, what's wrong?" she franticly asked pulling her son in a hug.

"I…don't want you to hate me!" Eric cried against his mother's chest.

"Baby, I would never hate you." Liane replied worry evident in her voice. She pulled back from the hug, "tell mommy what's wrong."

"I…I…" Eric sniffed, "I got a girl pregnant."

This caused his mom to almost choke on her own spit.

"oh, sweetie that's ok." She said, "if…if you need the money I'd be more than happy to give you some."

"That won't be necessary." Eric spoke, "because she's dead. I killed her."

Liane looked shocked. She swallowed a lump in her throat. "Oh baby why?"

"Because I didn't want the responsibility." He answered, "but I keep having nightmares about the girl and my could've been child and…and the only way I could make them stop is…is by taking heroin"

Eric looked at his mom's eyes, "I'm a heroin addict mom."

"Oh, Eric" Liane whispered feeling the tears form in her eyes.

"And…" he wasn't finished yet, "the heroin screwed up my brain so I…I got an F on both Math and Science test."

He choked a sob, "mom I'm sorry."

"Shh, shh, it's ok. I'm here." Liane whispered soothingly pulling the boy in another hug.

They stayed like that for a few moments.

"Mom?"

"Yes sweetie?"

"I lied"

Liane pulled away, "huh?"

"I'm not really a heroin addict. I've never even tried the shit."

She felt like a huge weight was lifted off of her. "Oh! That's…that's good."

"And I really didn't kill the mother of my child." He confessed, "in fact I didn't get anyone pregnant."

Liane breathed a sigh of relief, "oh, Eric! Don't ever scare mommy like that again!"

"But…" Eric said slowly, "I did get an F on two of my tests."

"IT DOESN"T MATTER!" Liane exclaimed happily, "I'm just glad that you're ok!"

"Really?"

"Yes! In fact, just so you can forget about those silly grades, I'll go out and buy that game console you've always wanted."

Eric hugged his mom, "thanks mom"

Liane quickly left for the toy store.

As soon as his mom left, he let the smirk appear on his face.

"Sweet."
