Sanctuary From the Rain
The sky had been clear, but it wasn't anymore. It was smothered by heavy rain clouds eager to empty themselves, and Ohtori Academy was just the place or so it seemed. Thus Juri Arisugawa and Miki Kaoru, who'd been enjoying a nice pleasant walk, were now running with their book bags over their heads in search of shelter. That shelter came in the form of a tree all by itself, with thick sturdy branches and plenty of leaves. The two good friends dashed for the tree and when the ground was dry they stopped to catch their breath.
"43 seconds." Miki Kaoru looked at his stopwatch. "It felt much longer then that, didn't it Miss Juri?"
"It did Miki." Juri put her bookbag down and set herself to wringing out her hair; as beautiful as it was, hair that long with such rich curls did not let go of water easily. "Still, we're in no rush, we can wait for this rain to run its course."
"That is true Miss Juri." Miki said, and then he caught himself looking at Juri as she dried herself off. He blushed and looked away, so caught up in his own embarrassment that he did not think to dry himself off.
"You know Miki, I've heard a story about this very tree." Juri said when she'd finished; there was still water about her, but there was nothing to be done about that until they could get some towels. "It seems that ten years ago today, on a day as rainy as this one, two students came together."
"Came together?" Miki's heart thumped in his chest. "Um, what do you mean Miss Juri?" Miki said, knowing full well what Juri had meant but hoping that somehow he would be wrong.
Juri chuckled. "I think you know what I mean Miki." Juri leaned over him, enjoying her advantage in height over her junior. "Two young people, the sound and scent of rain, the shelter of nature, and the feelings they both share."
Miki gulped, his face was burning hot. "Miss Juri, it is true that I've thought about this before," many times before, "but I wasn't sure that you…you…" She was so close, her face was all that he could see. Thus he did not see her hand reaching up to the branch directly overhead. Juri shook the branch and got Miki and herself soaking wet! "Miss Juri!"
"It was worth it Miki, believe me." Juri said, still laughing. Her laughter infected him, and he laughed as well. Then the rain stopped.
"I suppose we should get going then Miss Juri." Miki gathered his things.
"Almost time Miki, just one more thing." Miki looked at her, and then she kissed him! It was quick but on the lips, and he swore for just a moment he felt her tongue tease him. "There, now we can move on."
Miki, bright boy that he was, caught Juri's insinuation, and when they walked out of the shelter of the tree, they held each other's hands.
