Prologue
It was a code, a code that all of us had been forced to abide by. An ancient one, set in stone that no one could change. And yet we both believed that we could change it. How naive we were in thinking a law would be changed for two foolish boys. Our love could not and would never last long. Oh but we did have a good run, being able to hide our relationship for over 400 years. But good things can never last.
That day we had both stood stone faced in front of the council as they had announced a hearing for our fate. We had been given countless chances to renounce our relationship, our happiness each time we had refused. If our love was a crime of the morals then so be it. Our hearing dragged on as the council had discussed every aspect of the both of us being romantically involved. The both of agreed to every charge that they had said out of false hope that we would be let off on a lesser punishment. We could have not been more wrong.
The gods had ostracized us creating a grand punishment that we would become known for. I was allowed to keep my immortality. You on the other hand were stripped of yours, becoming human. And then murdered right before my eyes. The council had then further sentenced you to a repeated cycle of death and rebirth cursed to fall in love with me each time. And each time you were reborn you knew nothing of me or your many past and we started from scratch each time. Did we really deserve this for just falling in love?
