Title: Our Dry Hearts

Author: Katieelessar

Rating: K+

Warnings: The barest hints of Wincest.

Summary: They were blood. But a single beat.

Note: Woke up at around 3am with this in my head and had to jot it down. Something thoughtful on the boys' relationship.

They are blood.

But it's always been so much more.

They've bled together.

Some nights they lie tight and hard against each other—ripping at the seams like earth baked and broken by the sun. Sam meets his eyes—lush green oasis of promise and good—before reality bleeds to dream.

You can't see where one ends and the other meets. They rise and fall and deepen like veins of a sunset's blood, locked at the edges.

They're not the ocean or the land—they're the patch where water rubs the aches of sand to softness .It never let's you know where the shore's line is. One holds that quiet, steady strength of pushing the boundaries and touching every corner of the world while the other holds tightly to certitude and ancient roots of the past.

Without one, the other would bleed dry.

It's as normal as the day they live—tires swallowing miles and miles always there to depend on. Curves and stops and close calls and arguments loud as 'The Rolling Stones' bleed into one steady pulse that pushes them through well worn veins.

Always fed by breath—new, stale, old, a whisper.

But by the other.
