"Ash stared at it like it was poison. Little Lizzie stared at him, looking for conformation of it's safety." When Lizzie looks to her dad to help her eat his least favorite food, broccoli.

Lizzie – Eighteen Months old

Broccoli. Ash stared at it like it was poison. Little Lizzie stared at him, looking for conformation of it's safety. It was true, Misty hated carrots, peppers, and bugs. Ash didn't have many foods he hated, but broccoli was one of the few.

"Ash, it's just broccoli." Misty hissed from across the table. "Lizzie will only eat it if you do." She continued. Pikachu looked at his trainer in sympathy. An idea then suddenly popped his head. He turned to the young man and gave Ash his only bottle of ketchup, hoping maybe the ketchup may mask the flavor. He handed it back to him.

"Sorry buddy, this is one food that ketchup can't conceal." He said, a small grin appearing on his face. He then took the fork, staring at Lizzie as he slowly drove the fork past his cheek, in an attempt to fool Misty. Needless to say, she wasn't even phased.

"Ash Ketchum. Eat the dumb broccoli." She growled sharply to Ash in a hushed whisper. Ash could see Misty could blow any minute, but he just couldn't eat the broccoli. Lizzie started whimpering at her mother's outburst.

"Aw, sh.. Little Lizzie." Ash said looking at the small child. He took the fork and reluctantly pierced green vegetable and placed it in his mouth. He was prepared for a horrible taste sensation.

Surprisingly though, he smiled. A genuine smile. This wasn't so bad. He looked at Misty in amazement. "H-how did you do this?" Ash asked, still in awe of what he was tasting.

Misty looked impressed with herself. "It's amazing what you can do with broccoli, cheese, and the right spices, huh?" She said. Ash looked at Lizzie in excitement.

"Come on Lizzie, it's really good." He said, putting more broccoli in his mouth. Lizzie looked at him, slightly stunned at her father's enthusiasm. She then took her spoon, and taking some of the green vegetable, put it in her mouth.

A smile immediately hit her face. As soon as she swallowed her first bite, she started giggling. A huge sigh of relief swept Misty. Aiden and Michelle, who were at first reluctant to eat the broccoli now dived into it with joy.

"Wow, mommy." Aiden said, with his mouth full. "This is really yummy."

Ash chuckled at the small boy's reaction. Misty smiled, but slightly chastised him. "It's not polite to talk with your mouth full, baby." She told him.
