It became a weekly – nearly daily event. Alya would stop on the Pont des Arts bridge after school on her way home, leaning on the railing. Within minutes, generally by about 3:57, Jade Turtle would pop up from under the water and make a splash to let the girl know he was there. She'd turn around and smirk at him before he climbed out and walked her home.
And this wasn't any different.
Alya leaned against the railing of the bridge, scrolling through the feedback and comments on her latest post to the Ladyblog. It was a post about animal affects the heroes might suffer from, and it was safe to say the post was hit with the Ladybloggers. Right on cue, she heard the signaling splash and turned to look down. "Hey, Jade," she called with a giggle.
Jade Turtle spat out a bit of water, pulling himself up and crawling out on a post. Once on the bridge, the hero shook off his legs and stumbled over to Alya. "How was school, Ms. Reporter?" he asked, hands behind his head.
"Same old, same old," Alya started, letting the boy fall in to step beside her. "Almost got my phone taken because the Ladyblog was blowing up all morning…"
"Ah, that would suck," Jade snickered. "But you're not supposed to have your phone during class, are you?" he teased, nudging Alya's side. She huffed and turned away, forcing Jade to make an apology. "C'mon, I'm just kidding!" he whined, laughing at the amused look on the girl's face.
Their conversation stayed mostly normal, just light teasing and the occasional pick-up line from Jade that Alya threw to the ground with a teasing smile and click of her tongue. But, she did have one abnormal question for the hero. As he was rambling about the amount of pizza coupons he'd received, Alya decided to interrupt him. "Why do you walk me home every day?" she asked.
Jade paused, animated arms frozen at chest-level. "…I was just talking about pizza?"
Alya laughed and shook her head, "I wasn't listening, and I've wanted to ask you for, ah, two weeks now?"
Jade huffed and crossed arms, muttering about rudeness, blah, blah, Alya didn't listen. She instead insisted he answer her question. "I've told you," Jade said, "it's not safe for a pretty girl to walk around Paris alone."
Alya rolled her eyes, "Maybe at night. Maybe," she said. "What's the real reason, Jade?"
It was odd to see a blush on Jade Turtle's face. He normally acted either too stiff or too lax, never embarrassed. "OK, I don't call you 'pretty girl' for nothing…" Jade grumbled, kicking a rock.
Alya stepped up onto the concrete porch that led into her home. She turned around to look at the boy, who hung his head and tugged at his hood. Normally this was where Alya told the hero to get off of her property before she got the salt after him. But, Alya decided to break routine.
"Hey," she called, making Jade jump. Alya leaned over the railing of the porch and pressed a kiss to Jade's cheek, then grabbed his hood and yanked it over his eyes. "Get off my property before I kiss you again!"
Jade blinked once, twice, three times before a smirk fell over his confusion. "Well if that's my only punishment, I might just crash in your place for a while!" he threatened, taking a step onto the porch.
"Oh no you don't!" Alya laughed, scrambling to pepper his face. Jade laughed and doubled over in his attempted to get away from the girl.
"Alya!" he cried through his laughter. "Stop!"
Alya tossed him away by the hood, a smile spread across her face. "Now go home, Ninja Turtle!"
"Fine, fine," Jade waved her off, heading down the steps. As he left, he couldn't help but sneak a look back, blushing at the girl before he tossed down his shell and skid away.
Alya shook her head, giggling as she headed inside. That Jade Turtle was pretty cute.
Why must JTWifi be so cute?! AHH, bless Pilot for inventing Jade Turtle!
