He tried to run, to escape the horrors approaching him rapidly, but his feet were stuck to the marble floor like super glue. Their large, red eyes sparkled evilly at him. They were mere inches from his body; he could see every tiny hair on their disgusting little bodies. Black skin met green. He writhed under their touch, but they were unrelenting. He tried to swat them off, but there were millions upon millions. There was not a centimeter on his body that was not enveloped in their feather-like touch. They climbed all over his face; over his closed eyelids, into his unprotected nostrils, into his screaming mouth. His cry was unheard for there was no one around. Just him and these little nightmares.

His ears strained to hear some footsteps padding towards him, anything that would present itself as help and provide a spark of hope. All that was heard was the loud buzzing of these tiny terrors. The soft hum turned into a great mass of sound. It was anywhere and everywhere; it enveloped him. The sound alone drove him mad, but the feeling of them crawling on him brought him to the edge of insanity.

He opened his eyes, but all he could see was black. It was a shifting black, but not a single ray of light reached his eyes. He continued to search for some radiance, but was beginning to lose hope, if he had any to begin with. It was only when he felt a retched leg touch his eyeball that ceased his useless quest and closed his eyes. He had never been more thankful for eyelids than at this moment. They were his protectors, his defenders, his guardian angels. They guarded his precious seeing tools from the demons outside. They were saviors sent from Heaven. Never again would he underestimate their importance.

When he was losing hope of sanity and life, he began to be shaken. His body thrashed around like a doll, uncontrolled by him. The monsters fluttered from his body. Nothing had felt better in his life. He opened his eyes, but it was still dark. That's when he saw them. Two eyes, shining slightly from a small ray of light. He cried out in fear, but the figure stepped farther into the partial light and spoke, "It's alright, Raph, it's just me."

The sound of his voice soothed the panicked mutant. "Leo? What happened?"

"You were yelling in your sleep." The blue clad turtle hesitated before asking, "Nightmare?"

Raphael nodded sheepishly. He wasn't a helpless child. He could handle nightmares. But as the eldest turtle climbed onto the bed and engulfed the hothead in his embrace, he couldn't help sighing in content. The safety he felt in his brother's arms was undeniably comforting. He rested his throbbing head onto Leo's plastron.

Raph managed out, "Thanks."

"No problem, little brother."

As he snuggled closer into his brother's warmth, he fell into a peaceful, nightmare-free sleep.

A/N: For any of you who didn't figure it out, the little 'demons' were bugs.
