Violet

A/N + This story takes place after episode 1x08 - 'Desperate Souls'. Under 'Swan Queen' for obvious reasons, but this story is mainly centered around Regina and her daughter. Just so you know, I've rated this 'M', for later chapters. Feedback will always be appreciated and I will update as often as I can. The only thing left to say is, I hope you enjoy it! :)

Chapter One - 'So, Storybrooke?'

The young girl held her torso tightly, fighting the bitter air as she stared down the dark, fogged street that seemed to go on forever.

"So, Storybrooke? Who lives here then, Little Red Riding Hood?" She quipped.

Emma was just locking up the station for the night, she turned on her heel to head home and was startled by the sight of a girl she had never seen before. Emma thought she had crossed paths with most of the residents here by now, then again this town was bigger than it looked, as Regina loved to remind her.

"Hey! You alright? You look a little lost." Emma called, walking over to the young girl.

She had long, dark hair and light blue eyes and it took a few moments, but then Emma realized that she actually looked an awful lot like Regina. Emma was a little taken back by the similarity she saw between the mayor and this girl.

"What's your name kid? I don't think I've seen you around here before?" Emma asked bluntly, as she had a tendency to do.

"Violet. My name is Violet." Violet replied, but she came over rather shy all of a sudden and she looked up at Emma, curiously.

"Violet." Emma repeated, looking interested. "I'm Emma Swan, the Sheriff?"

"Oh, I don't live here. In fact I am looking for a place to stay? Would you be able to help me? Emma." Violet asked quietly.

The next thought that came into Emma's mind was a memory, of Henry telling her that no one has ever come to Storybrooke and no one has ever left. Curious.

"Well, there's Granny's Bed and Breakfast just down the street?" Emma suggested, placing a friendly hand on Violet's shoulder. "I'm sure she'll see you put up for the night and if you need anything just stop by the station tomorrow, okay? I'll be more than happy to help with anything."

Violet smiled at her gratefully and Emma smiled back, before watching Violet walk away.

"God, she even smiles just like her." Emma muttered to herself, lingering. She had to tell Regina about this.

Regina was making a cup of coffee, knowing that Emma was due home at any moment. Then she heard the door burst open and swiftly shut, Emma made her way briskly to Regina and halted in front of her. Regina looked a tad surprised to say the least as her girlfriend jittered about like she'd already had a cup of coffee, or several for that matter.

"It was the weirdest thing Regina!" Emma said, looking Regina up and down whilst picturing the young girl in her head.

"What are you talking about dear?" Regina yawned, she was pretty tired but she always waited up for Emma.

"A girl just arrived in Storybrooke." Emma continued, and Regina's eyes widened at the thouhgt. No one should be arriving in Storybrooke, Emma being an exception.

"Who was she? What was her name?" Regina questioned seriously as she stepped closer to Emma, folding her arms across her chest.

"I don't know, but she couldn't of been much older than eighteen." Emma said, lost in thought. She wasn't aware of how rigid Regina's posture had become. "I sent her in the direction of Granny's." Emma continued, staring at the space between them.

"She looked like you Regina! I mean, seriously, do you have any younger siblings? Or any daughters?" Emma asked, laughing a little as that last question was to her, a harmless joke.

Daughter? Regina's heart began to sink and her eyes glistened with anguish. The thought of her daughter, her beautiful baby girl. The one who was taken away from her, snatched from her arms. The one that no one besides her parents knew about, not even Daniel.

Violet approached the bed and breakfast that Emma advised her to seek out, it looked rather gloomy really. Well it was night of course and it was probably much more friendlier looking inside. She knocked on the front door, considering it polite and went to open it. The door didn't budge an inch, it was locked. She knocked once more and no one answered. Granny and Ruby were asleep having assumed that no one would want a room, just like any other day in Storybrooke and especially not at 10:30pm at night.

"Well that's fantastic." Violet mumbled to herself. She slid down the front door, sitting down on the porch as she wrapped her arms around herself to keep the chill in the air off of her skin.

Violet gazed up at the sky, it was a beautiful dark blue and it was filled corner to corner with stars. One of the many groups of stars looked like a rose, Violet's favourite flower and it made her smile. Her eyes faltered as she looked down at her hands, they were trembling slightly from the cold and more importantly, her lack of energy. As far as she knew, she'd been travelling for the best part of three days and she was surprised that she looked as good as she did at the moment.

Storybrooke was cute, but nothing special. Just a seemingly quiet town and Violet had no idea why she was here.

"I don't know why I am here." Violet sighed, leaning her head against the front door and closing her eyes. It took a while for her to fall asleep but she did eventually.

Regina lay on her back, like she always did when she was thinking. Emma was curled up beside her, her hand caught limp in Regina's hair. Regina tried to sleep, but she couldn't stop thinking about that girl that Emma had mentioned. She could just look oddly like her, these things happen all the time.

"There is no way that she could be my daughter, she's gone." Regina thought.

Regrettably, Regina went on to closing her eyes and reliving the experience of losing her daughter all those years ago. When her mother Cora found out that Regina was pregnant, she swore that Regina could never have her child. A few wisps of Cora's magic hid the visual side of her daughter's pregnancy from King Leopold. Then when Regina gave birth, Cora confiscated the baby girl immediately, as if she were some irrelevant object. She never did find out what happened to her baby girl, and eventually she grew to accept that she was never going to see her again. In fact, several times Regina considered the fact that maybe Cora had ordered her killed, Regina certainly wouldn't put it past her mother. She was heartless.

Regina turned onto her side, a single tear falling down her cool cheek as she closed her eyes again, not wanting to think about it any more. Emma stirred, in slumber and moved closer to Regina, seeking out the comfort and bringing the Mayor unknown warmth as she did. Regina let out a shuddering sigh and eventually fell asleep with a delicate frown on her face.

Dawn broke and Ruby woke up simultaneously, she hated how she woke up naturally at this time regardless of how it helped with work. Granny got up a few minutes later, by alarm and they got into an argument over who was using the bathroom first. They bustled around, getting everything together before they headed to the Diner to open up for the morning. Granny opened the front door and jumped back at the sight of Violet asleep on the porch.

"What?! Who's this?" Granny exclaimed.

Ruby gasped and knelt down beside her.

"I, I don't know but Granny, she's frozen. We need to get her to the hospital, she looks ill!" Ruby said.

"Well, who is she?"

"I don't know, I've never seen her before!"

The both of them stared at Violet, then at each-other.

"We should call Emma." Ruby said finally, and Granny nodded in agreement.

Emma's mobile rang, alerting Regina. She woke up and the ringing went on long enough to irritate her.

"Emma! Emma! Answer your damn phone!" Regina groaned, nudging Emma.

"Alright, jeez!" Emma grumbled into her pillow, before grasping her phone and bringing it to her ear.

"Hello, Sheriff Swan!" Emma answered, turning onto her back. "Woah, Ruby slow down. Right, a girl? Oh, don't worry I know who she is, I met her last night, is she okay? What? Okay, I'll be right over. Have you called the hospital?"

Hospital? Regina's eyes widened and she immediately sat up, turning to observe Emma's conversation. The possibility of this girl being her daughter was bigger than Regina originally thought. Regina never knew what had happened to her daughter, and anything was possible. That was a fact Regina knew all to well and she knew that she had to go and see this girl. She had to make sure.

"Okay, good. Ruby? Ruby! Listen, you need to go and open up the Diner. I'll head straight to the hospital and I'll be there when she gets brought in. See you later!" Emma finished.

As Emma looked up at Regina, she was grabbing her clothes. Emma was a little taken back by the urgency in Regina's movements.

"Regina, I've got to go to the—" Emma began, before Regina interrupted her.

"I'm coming with you. Get changed promptly."

Regina left the room to prepare herself, and Emma stood up, bedazzled. Why would Regina care at all about a random young girl?
