"This is the weirdest thing I've ever done," Kento declared adamantly. He and Cye were at the mall with Anubis, shopping for clothes for the former warlord. As he spoke, said warlord wandered the racks, pausing at each selection; a frown deepening on his face as each slide of the hangar revealed another item to consider.

"I do not understand where this cloth is coming from." Anubis peered at a tag. "What is a 'levi'?"

Ignoring the monk's confusion, Cye arched an eyebrow at his friend above a display of neatly folded sweaters. "Really? What about fighting hordes of demons in magic armor?"

Keno returned Cye's look. "Taking a former warlord – someone who tried to kill us multiple times – shopping for underwear?" He held up a pair of plaid boxers. "Yep; tops fighting the dynasty any day. And I'm not the only one who thinks so – look, people are staring at us!"

"That's only because you're waving those boxers like they're some kind of flag." Reaching over the display, Cye grabbed the underwear from Kento and tucked the unmentionables under his arm. "Will you stop that?" He hissed.

Now it was Kento's turn to arch an eyebrow. "Oh, so the stares have nothing to do with him –" he pointed to Anubis, who was completely oblivious as, still in his monks robes, he selected a shirt and slung it over the top of the Ancient's Staff.

A father shopping with his son quietly nudged him in the other direction, while others gave Anubis a wide berth. Even a store salesman hovered at a healthy distance; unsure whether to intervene or pretend nothing was out of the ordinary.

Cye huffed in annoyance and started flipping through a stack of long sleeved shirts. "Well, what else is he supposed to wear? He doesn't fit in any of our clothes, and he can't walk around in his armor – that'd definitely look strange." The teen held up a light green shirt, frowning in indecision. "Do you think Anubis would like this?"

Kento just stared. "What about this isn't strange to you?" He waved his hand around, indicating the store and everyone in it. "We're taking Anubis, the warlord of I-will-hand-your-ass-to-you-in-my-sleep, clothes shopping!"

"Mia says he's changed – "

"Yeah, well Mia doesn't have to see Anubis in his underwear." Kento passed a hand over his face. "I am so going to need therapy after this."

"I believe that I have found a suitable wardrobe."

The ronin turned at that announcement, and choked back gasps of horror at the sight of the Warlord of Cruelty holding a motley assortment of shirts, bathrobes and women's skirts, while wearing a muted yellow skirt with floral patterns over his monks robes.

Flushing bright red, Cye quickly ran to Anubis, explaining in hushed but urgent tones how modern clothes worked. The monk just stared at him blankly.

"What's wrong with the skirt, again?"

Kento shook his head. "Make that lots and lots of therapy."

Note: I have no problem with guys wearing skirts, I just wanted to show how someone unfamiliar with modern clothing would see clothes today; after all, pants as we know them didn't exist in feudal Japan when Anubis was last on Earth (around 1550). To him, bathrobes and skirts would probably look like the modern equivalent of yukata, kimono, and hakama, since Western-style clothing wasn't commonly worn in Japan until the 1800s.
