I'm Not Him

A/N: Old story I found but never posted.
It seemed like a good idea at the time. All the titans were coupling up. Robin and Star. Cy and Bee. Aqualad preferred to be alone. Beast Boy still mourned the loss of Terra and Mas y Menos mourned Star though she wasn't dead just not interested in the pint sized duo. So when Raven approached him and asked him out he was a bit skeptical. He knew she was emotionless but he'd rather hang out with her than Aqualad any day. Things started off well enough but then he began to notice a few things. Like how she never called him by his name and asked him to keep his mask on. Things finally came to a head four months later.
Speedy stood on the roof of Titans East facing South. He knew she would be there soon and he had to tell her. He sighed when he saw her approach. Early as usual he thought. Her heart stopped when she said him. He never waited outside for her. She glided down to where he was and stood about 10 ft. from him. He didn't have to say anything she knew what this was about. She had been expecting it sooner.
'So that's it. Just like that we're over?'
'We've been kidding ourselves Rae. Or I've been kidding myself. I thought that in times things would change. that you'd grow to love me or stop loving . . ,' he didn't finish. He didn't need to. She turned away from him and looked out towards the ocean. 'I can't let my emotions,' she started but he interrupted. 'It's not that. You and I both know the reason. You feel just not for me. You can't even look at me can you?'
She turned around and looked at everything except him. 'Rae.' Hearing his voice she looked into those pupil less eyes of his mask. She was in a trance like state. She felt overwhelmed and quickly turned back around.
'Does it hurt so much to look at me,' he asked not waiting on a response. 'I'm sorry Rae but I'm not him. I can't be him. I'm just me. We just happen to wear the same type of mask. I knew that's the reason you suggested we started hanging out since him and Star got serious but a part of me wanted to believe you really saw me and not Robin.'
She turned and looked at him for the first time in a long time. She had taken advantage of him and used him but it's not like he was innocent in all of this. She knew he loved Star. She was about to say as much but he continued.
'No worries or regrets. I enjoyed our time together. I hope you did too.' He turned and walked away. 'Maybe one day He will see just how much you love him if he can't already.'
