Hopeless Battle

Summary: Neo Queen Serenity's thoughts before Crystal Tokyo is destroyed. This is my first fic, so please R&R, and be kind.
I stand on one of the numerous balconies of the Crystal Palace. My home. I look out at the city, and all I see is chaos. It is no longer the beautiful place it one was. Months of war have reduced it to nothing. On the horizon there is an army marching towards what is left of my kingdom.
After a millennium of peace, we were unprepared for an attack. I am a fool for not seeing the signs. I have no one to blame for this situation except me, and my own ignorance. But it all ends now. Just like I have done so many times before, I will go into battle, to defend my world. Or what is left for me to defend. There are less than 500 people left. They have all taken refuge in the palace. It is the only thing that has remained untouched, and I fear that after today, even that will be destroyed.
They are drawing closer.
With each step they take, my fate draws nearer. I hear footsteps behind me, shaking me out of my reverie. I turn, and am greeted by my friends. No words are spoken. After all these years, there is no need for words. They all understand that this is going to be the end. And they are all willing to follow me to the end, even though it may cause their deaths.
And this time, it most certainly will.
I nod, and we turn and descend the stairs, and pass through the ornate doors of the Crystal Palace. Together as one we step out into the ruined city. The scent of death lingers on the air. Not a sound is mad. I take a deep breath, and raise my head as I summon the Silver Crystal. Behind me, I hear my senshi draw their attacks.
We are preparing for a hopeless battle.
The grim reality permeates the air. I raise the Crystal, ready to unleash its power. Ready to perform my final act as queen. I face the enemy, and even though they are still 100 feet away, I know he hears my final words.
"Goodbye Endyimon"
