Struggles harden the hold
This was never supposed to happen, or at least not in his little dream world where the hero always won. But not matter what should be, this was happening. He looked down at the child again; he was still struggling with all his might to fight him off of him.
He watched as the small fist continued to punch at him. He could feel every kick he was trying to use to buck him off. He let him continue to fight; it would only tire him out, without having any real effect on him.
Even after the young boy was drained of most of his energy he continued to fight. This is what drew him to the boy. Yes, at first he wanted to collect him because he was the son of his worst enemy and his deepest love, but that is not what drew him to him. The boy fought with every fiber of his being. He had a fiery spirit that was just begging for him to tame it.
He would harness that spirit. Danny could not fight him any longer. His hits were becoming far weaker now and his breath was coming out in ragged breaths from over exertion. He should have known that he couldn't stand a chance in his human form. He didn't even stand a chance in his ghost form.
Even in between Danny's ragged breaths he managed to glare at him. There was that determined and fiery spirit again. Vlad, or rather Plasmius in this state, just continued looking down on him and laughed. That infuriated the boy further.
Danny let out another, very strong, buck in an attempt to knock him off of him so he could stand. Vlad grabbed his by the wrists tightly, and slammed them against the ground.
He knew that losing right now, in such a mockery was tearing Danny apart on the inside. He laughed lightly again.
"Now, Danny, do you really think you can beat me?" He mocked. Then he heard it a soft knock on the door.
"Danny what's going on in there?" That soft voice asked. Yes, Maddie. She couldn't see him like this. As his mom twisted the door knob Vlad phased through the floor allowing her to only see her son on the floor. There was nothing to worry about as long as Maddie and the idiot didn't see him, after all Danny would never tell.
Also, every time he went home empty handed, it only made him more determined for next time. After all Danny's struggles only made him want him more. As they say Struggles only harden the hold.
