Black Tie Affair
It's not that he didn't like socializing at these events. Usually he didn't mind them. Being at them alone never was a problem to him either. Not that he had ever really been without options, he just sometimes felt, to avoid complications, it was better to go alone.
This, however, was not the situation now. Now he had the woman he wanted. She just wasn't here, and therein lay the problem.
Sam wasn't able to make this shindig because, as it so often did, duty called. The possibility of completing an indefensible weapon against the Ori, caused her to be up to her ears in schematics.
So, long story short, Sam wasn't here. Concluding that if he was home he could at least call and talk to her for a few minutes, Jack decided to leave early. Making his excuses, he escaped fairly quickly from the party which was now in full swing, and left.
Driving home, all he could think about was the sound of her voice. 'O'Neill you are so gone.' He accused himself, in recognition of his feelings for this woman that he had loved for so long.
Finally home, he skipped up the steps and put the key in the door. When he pushed it open and walked in, he would have sworn that his eyes were playing cruel tricks on him, had the vision not spoken to him.
"You said it was a black tie affair right? Hope you don't mind. I borrowed one of yours."
Sam was wicked in her intention, speaking innocent words, without a hint of innocence in her voice.
Jack stared at her standing there, wearing his white vest, black stockings, black heels, with one of his black ties draped loosely around her neck. She tilted her head slightly to the left, as though awaiting his permission.
Jack dropped the keys, then slowly started loosing his own tie as he began to take deliberate steps toward Sam. He told her, "No problem. As long as I get to tie it."
The smile that appeared on her face told him that she wouldn't mind.
She wouldn't mind at all.
End.
