Prologue 1

In the holding cell at the ministry, Narcissa Malfoy was sitting in the dark corner locked away from the world and away from her family. She was in deep thinking wondering where she went wrong to end up here instead of all possible places she could imagine. As soon as Dark Lord fell to his death, Narcissa was sure her family's freedom going to be ripped away from them like his soul. She was worried about her son, Draco Malfoy. As Narcissa was thinking, ministry official appeared on the doorway. She knew her time was near. Her time in the wizarding world was over. It was quite evident irrespective of judgment she can never set her foot into the wizarding world ever again. She was alright with that as long as Draco is present by her side. She was escorted to Wizengamot for her last judgement. She was asked to sit in the chair at the centre of the room facing theMinistry officials.

"Narcissa Malfoy, you are under arrest for aiding Tom Riddle ,Jr. On his quest to abolish muggle-born wizards and witches from the wizarding world and providing cover to escaped prisoners from Azkaban in your home for more than a year. Do you plead guilty of these charges?" read a solicitor who sat at the bottom of the high table.

Narcissa Malfoy straightened her posture and replied " yes." Members present in the court started murmuring after her reply.

" Silence, we have testimony from Mr. Harry Potter that you saved his life during the battle at Hogwarts and lying to Tom Riddle, Jr. About his death. What do you have to say about this?"

"I saved him so I could know about Draco whereabouts and I lied so I could see my son alive

Her reply was totally unexpected. Many expected her to use this chance to gain sympathy and escape her sentence with minimum punishment, but nobody knew about Narcissa. There were still some questions that remain unanswered. Minister gave her the verdict as there were many death eater waiting for their verdict. They had to do this soon as possible before any interference could start.

"Case no 17#, Narcissa Malfoy you are hereby sentenced to five-year of house arrest within the conditions of surrendering your wand and you are not allowed to travel anywhere outside your house without your ministry appointed counselor who will be in contact with you shortly and during the span of your sentence. Any violation of the rule will end you up in Azkaban"Minister read her verdict.

Solicitor bellowed "Next."

She saw Draco dragged inside the room by chains around his wrist and his ankle. Her heart broke at the sight of him. His warm and affectionate eyes were empty. Narcissa wanted to run towards her son and hug him, offer him comfort and tell him it will be alright that she is there to protect him, but she wasn't able to do it as she was removed from the room by Ministry official who escorted her earlier.

A few days later

Narcissa Malfoy was curled in the armchair inside Malfoy Manor's library. She was still wearing the same dress that she wore on the day of her verdict and holding to a letter in her hand that read " To my loving Mother, Be happy" wishing everything happened for over past few years to be a dream. Her ministry appointed counselor tried to contact her, but she ignored them as well. As soon as she stepped into Malfoy Manor, she freed all her house elf gave them her jewelry like her son wanted to do a few years back. She was waiting for Draco's verdict. She was willing to accept any verdict as long as she could see him live happily. She was staring at the window and garden below and reminiscing the days she played with Draco there. When she cannot find him while playing hide and seek she would call out his name he would be right in front of her. Last few days she was calling out his name, but he doesn't appear in front of her anymore. Her heart cannot accept t that he went to the place where she cannot follow or find him ever again. Not a day has passed for her since she heard her son's verdict from her counselor. They didn't grant her a chance to visit her son. At least she hoped he would wish to see her, but his last wish was to see Hermione Granger. She felt numb when she heard her son's verdict but realized she was always numb. All those years with Draco had been like a soothing pain reliever to her broken heart, but the pain was still there. Narcissa started weeping loudly and cursing her life. She lost her loved one once again.
