"Alex, you about ready to leave?" Carmichael asked as she entered the Bureau Chief's office.

"Just about, have a seat. I won't be long." Alex replied. The Texan took a seat, and quietly admired the blonde attorney. There was a knock on the door before Steele poked his head in. "Come in." Cabot told her Deputy ADA without looking up.

"Are we still on for dinner?" Jim asked. Abbie locked eyes with Alex, and arched an eyebrow in interest.

"I'm going to have to cancel." Cabot answered.

"Another time?" Steele pushed.

"Cancel. EAUSA Carmichael has taken all my free time, re-writing Federal drug laws and policies." Alex explained hoping that Abbie would play along.

"Sorry Jimbo." Abbie confirmed Cabot's explanation.

"It's Jim." Steele corrected.

"Are you ready to go?" Alex asked Abbie.

"Yes after you." Abbie replied as she waved Alexandra on ahead of herself.

"Jim I'll see you on Monday." Cabot told her Deputy as they left.

Carmichael's Apartment

"I'm guessing that Jimbo had something to do with you showing up at my door at 3 in the morning?" Abbie asked after both of them had changed into more comfortable clothing. Alex leaned into Abbie, and the Texan wrapped her into a loose embrace.

"Jim and I had an argument, we ended up having sex. I went home, showered, and ended it with Robert. It took me until 3 in the morning to get the courage to come here. I haven't been me since I came back. The last time I remember being happy, and completely at ease with myself, was when I was with you." Alexandra told the dark haired beauty. Alex had showed up at Abbie's door crying and broken. Abbie gently guided the blonde to the bedroom, and held her until she fell asleep.

"You want to give us another try?" Carmichael asked with a small smile. Cabot moved so that she was facing the older woman.

"Is that such a bad idea? We broke up because we knew a long distance relationship wouldn't work. You had two years of training in DC, and by the time you came back to New York I was back in Witsec. I think this is our time. What do you think?" Alex propositioned Abigail. Carmichael kissed the younger attorney sweetly.

"Don't break my heart, darling." Abbie told Alex.

"Don't plan to." Alexandra reassured the Texan.

Monday morning Alex's Office.

"Hey Alex you want to grab some lunch?" Steele asked as he strolled into her office.

"No. I have plans." Cabot replied, never looking up from the file she was reading.

"Damn it Alexandra! We need to talk about it." Jim hissed out as he quickly shut the door. Alex closed the file, took off her glasses, and slightly pushed away from her desk

"There's nothing to talk about. It was a mistake, and it will not happen again." Cabot told him evenly.

"So you went home, and spent the weekend fucking Robert until you stopped feeling guilty." Jim spat out in disgust. Alex stood swiftly.

"It's none of your business, but I went home, showered, ended it with Robert, and went where I belonged." Cabot explained as Carmichael walked into the office.

"Lex." Abbie called out. Alex locked eyes with the Texan, and smiled.

"Cowboy, let's go." Alexandra told her lover as they left the office. Steele noticed Abbie place a hand on Cabot's back, ushering her gently out. It dawned on him then, Carmichael and Cabot were a couple. Alex left Robert for Abbie, and that stung his pride quite a bit.
