This is a fanfiction I've wanted to do for a while. This story is a collection of moments where Thalia, Grover, and Percy have encountered the dam joke.
With that, I leave you to enjoy the dam fanfiction!
Zoe, Grover, Thalia, and Percy were at the Hoover Dam, visiting for Annabeth's sake. Once they arrived, they got down to business, still somber after Bianca's death.
"Let us find the dam snack bar," Zoe said. "We should eat while we can."
Grover cracked a smile. "The dam snack bar?"
Zoe blinked. "Yes. What is funny?"
"Nothing," Grover said, trying to keep a straight face. "I could use some dam french fries."
Even Thalia smiled at that. "And I need to use the dam restroom."
Percy started laughing at Zoe's unnoticed joke, with Thalia and Grover joining in, while Zoe just looked at them.
"I do not understand."
Her confusion only made the three laughs harder. Thalia was hunched over, her hands on her knees, and Grover was clutching his stomach. Percy tried to control his peals of laughter, to no avail.
It was quite a few moments later before any of them could speak coherently.
"I want to use the dam water fountain," Grover said through laughter.
"And…" Thalia tried to catch her breath. "I want to buy a dam T-shirt."
Percy would have kept laughing, but the quest brought him back.
Little did any of them know, that was the last time they would be reminded of the dam joke.
The Titan War had just ended, and Grover was traveling the continent. It was a cool experience, meeting all of the nature spirits, but Grover missed his friends.
He wouldn't have been where he was without them. All of his friends believed in him, and wouldn't let him fail. He would be tap dancing if they hadn't been there.
Taking a break, he sat at the side of a river, enjoying the view. Down the river, he saw a family of beavers building a dam.
Grover was reminded of when Artemis was captured, and a quest was sent to get her back. He remembered stopping at the Hoover Dam and laughing until he couldn't breathe when Zoe made an accidental joke.
Grover's heart ached just thinking about Percy and Thalia. He wondered what they were doing. Thalia was probably with her hunters, and Percy was most likely in New York with Annabeth. God's, he waited so long for them to get together.
He didn't know how long he had been sitting by the river when he noticed the sun going down. Deciding to set up camp for the night, he set out his things.
Later, as sleep came to him, Grover muttered, "As fun as this is, I really miss my dam friends."
Percy was in New Rome, having a conversation about monsters and quests with Annabeth, Reyna, and the others.
"Now that Death is free, monsters will disintegrate and return to Tartarus again like they used to. But as long as the Doors of Death are open, they'll just keep coming back."
His own quest was interesting. Death-defying, sure, but it was the adventure and the adrenaline that Percy had come to crave. It was the part of quests that Percy didn't think he could give up.
At the moment, however, Percy was just glad to have Annabeth at his side again.
"Like water leaking through a dam," Piper suggested, twisting a feather in her hair.
He smiled softly. He remembered Zoe Nightshade, and how she never understood the joke.
"Yeah. We've got a dam hole."
"What?" Piper asked.
Still thinking about Thalia, Grover, and his third quest, Percy answered her question and tried to get his mind back to the conversation and the problem at hand.
"Nothing,"
Thalia and her hunters had just set up camp for the night. Her hunters had been working hard to destroy as many monsters as they could with the camps at each other's throats.
With night falling and dinner over, she was headed back to her cabin as she looked up to the horizon. In the distance, there was the Hoover Dam.
A rush of memories came back. She remembered the sadness of Bianca's death and the desperate laughter that came with the dam joke and the humor in Zoe's confusion.
"You still owe me a dam t-shirt Kelp Face," Thalia murmured.
With that, she turned away from the dam, a smile still on her face.
That night, Thalia slept with a smile on her face, and for the first time in a while, slumbered a dreamless sleep.
Thalia was in the city with Percy, enjoying an afternoon during her two-week break.
She sat at McHale's with Percy, enjoying a cheeseburger. Since moving into his cabin, she felt closer to him, almost like an older sister. She found herself spending more time with him, enjoying his company.
Thalia even managed to convince Percy to go to a clothes shop and let her pick out an outfit for him after lunch. He was reluctant, but he soon gave in "Only to stop your incessant begging," he claimed.
After lunch, Thalia and Percy found themselves in a clothes shop full of black clothing. Thalia loved it, and couldn't wait to pick out something for Percy.
She browsed through the racks, picking things out for him to try on. She even found some things for herself.
About an hour later, the two arrived at the counter with a large stack of clothing. They got strange looks from the cashier, but he said nothing as he scanned the items.
Once they left the store, Thalia turns to Percy, holding out her hand as if expecting payment.
Percy raised an eyebrow. "What? Do you want me to pay you?"
"Yes, as a matter of fact."
"Why? You dragged me here."
"You promised you would buy me a dam t-shirt, that's why," Thalia stated, hands on her hips.
"I said no such thing! And besides, you bought more than one t-shirt!" Percy countered.
"Does it matter?"
"Yes! Yes, it does!" He sputtered indigently.
"Just do it, Kelp Face."
After relenting and handing over a wad of cash, the two moved on to their next destination with Percy muttering under his breath. Clearly, he did not find humor in giving Thalia money. Thalia, however, found the situation extremely hilarious and was chuckling for two blocks.
Nevertheless, Percy and Thalia had a fun day, and both enjoyed the new clothes.
The Giant War had passed, and Thalia was roaming the camp with Grover and Percy.
As of the three were looking for a little fun, Thalia had the idea to confuse everybody as much as possible by using the dam joke as much as humanly possible.
The trio busted out laughing every time they saw someone's confused face.
The fact that no one understood made the inside joke ten times funnier.
It got to the point where Annabeth had marched up to the three of them and demanded to know what was so funny. It reminded them so much of Zoe that none of them could come up with anything remotely coherent enough to count as a sentence.
This only served to aggravate Annabeth further, and she marched away grumbling the words, "Idiots. A group of idiots," under her breath.
Yeah, the dam joke was pretty dam hilarious.
What did you think? Please tell me in the reviews.
Let me know if you want me to do a multi-chapter fanfiction. I have a few ideas, but I want to know if you'll be up for it. I think I would enjoy writing it.
No matter what the story is, it will be unique. If you guys want me to do a stereotypical Pertemis or Chaos story, I will do my best to make it as realistic and as unique as possible.
If you want, you can leave a story idea in the reviews.
If I do end up writing a multi-chapter fanfiction, I promise I will update on a fairly normal schedule, probably within a few days to a week between each chapter.
Don't forget to favorite and review to let me know how I can get better!
