HI GUYS! Sorry I couldn't update EOTL, School's been a beeyatch. But, I couldn't not put something up, so here you go: Kamikoto oneshot!
[Note: I do not own Toaru or it's characters]
Mikoto is standing in front of you, and you're trying to get a grip on your emotions.
You can't tell if she's lying or being truthful, and the entire future of your relationship is banking on your ability to make a decision and act. You opened up, showed your most vulnerable spots, and got stabbed in the back when you least expected it. She apologized, and it sounds sincere… but is it real?
Your past experiences together crumble away like a dry cookie against a jackhammer and you are left alone to judge her expressions, facial or otherwise, on nothing but your own knowledge of people in general. And as you wonder if all six months of your relationship and everything you two did together was the real thing or just a lie, you realize that the thin veneer that encapsulates your understanding of reality is so fragile that you feel like if you so much as breathe on it, it'll spontaneously combust and the ashes will blow away in the wind.
You look up and you see her face looking back at you, trying to observe every little detail of your expression. As the both of you look at each other and try to read the other person's mind, you come to realize the reality of other people.
It's like looking into a strange one-way mirror where you see the reflection of the other person but can't see what's behind it. You can't tell if what is in front of you is a shell or the real thing, and if the hammer of your anger comes swinging down you won't have any way of knowing if you'll smash a fake façade or injure a sincere entity until after the blow has connected. And if the latter is true, you're very likely to cause an injury that permanently cripples whatever was on the receiving end of that blow.
So here you are, trying to decide whether to drop the metaphorical hammer in your hand and embrace the girl standing in front of you or to douse this bridge in gasoline and burn it to the ground. Your decision is…?
"Mikoto?"
"...Yes?" She's looking at you with an expression of hope. Whether it's hope that you took the bait or hope of forgiveness is beyond you.
You drop your eyes as you force yourself to come to a conclusion. You take a breath, hold it, and let it out.
"I... I know. I'm sorry too. I wasn't exactly the best to you either."
As you look back up, your eyes meet. They well up with tears and next thing you know, you're both hugging each other and crying silent tears that speak of indescribable emotions.
YAY! SHORT! LOL, I hope you enjoyed! ETOL chapter 10 is underway and will be out soon!
Please drop a much appreciated review and tell me what you think!
