Spoilers for episode 6!!
There is something about Messaline
The Doctor was nervous, and he didn't like it at all. Sure, he's experienced the feeling before, he was over 900 years old after all. But those scenarios were nothing like this. Those were about life and death, and they were much easier to deal with.
But now here he was, with Rose, after four long years, and he really didn't know what to say, or rather, how to say it. Of course his problem wasn't with the talking part of their reunion, he could talk for hours without a pause. And he wasn't lacking the things to say either, he had so many things to share with her. Like his adventures, the fact that he missed her, his new companions, that he loved her and of course his newly re-discovered daughter, Jenny, who was actually the source of his discomfort.
How do you tell the woman you love, that while she was away, you got yourself a daughter?
A daughter, who like a proper teenager, chose the worst moment to come over and ask, "Are you alright, Dad?"
A quick peek at Rose confirmed that she heard Jenny too, and the questioning gaze directed at him told the Doctor that he wouldn't be able to get away with telling that she just imagined the last word of the question. So he did the next best thing, and tried to explain himself.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Jenny, this is Rose, Rose, this is Jenny, she is...er...my daughter," he said quickly, "Well, not really my daughter as in normal daughter, but she is my daughter. Really. You see we – I, Martha and Donna, my new companions, who are not replacing you because nobody could, honestly- went to this planet. And when I say went, I mean we were dragged there by Jenny, who wasn't even alive then, but you see there was this endless paradox, so it was her who called us, just a little bit early, and by doing that, ensuring her whole existence. And by ensuring her existence, I mean getting us captured and sticking my hand into this machine what took a tissue sample from me, and..." he was cut off by an amused looking Rose.
"Oh, are you trying to tell me that you've been to Messaline? The planet with the twenty-generations-in-seven-days war and the soldier growing machines?"
"Yeah. How did you know that?"
Instead of answering, Rose waved a young man over to them. He was slightly shorter than him with dark brown hair and bright brown eyes that were somewhat familiar to the Doctor. But before he could ask Rose who the boy was, she spoke up again.
"Doctor, meet Mal. Mal, this is the Doctor," she said, and the Doctor detected some nervous excitement in her voice. He greeted the young soldier, but still couldn't imagine why was this introduction so important, until Donna, who wandered over after she saw Mal joining, snorted.
"Oh, I get it. Mal. Generated anoMALy."
