Lucy's POV
His tiny chubby fingers wrap tightly around my fingers. I watch him breathe softly, his stomach pushing up and down. "You sure you don't want to go? I can call Gray and Juvia to watch him." he says kissing my cheek. "No Natsu, that's okay. Just go buy the clothes quickly. Remember, he's only seven months old and isn't really ready for such summer heat." I say back to him. I stare at Natsu smiling. I smile back. "Bye Lucy and my little dragon." Natsu says before walking out the door.
I look at Igneel. His soft , messy pink hair is ruffled around, his big eyes shut tightly, his chubby cheeks so cutely round, he just almost looks like his father.
"One day, you're going to be big and strong like your daddy. One day, you're going to take your first steps. One day Igneel, you'll be all grown up." I smile sadly. Even though it's years away, I can already imagine him in his first car driving to the movies with his friends.
Igneel holds tighter onto my finger. He stirs sightly but doesn't wake up.
I get up while placing him in the crib. I go to the bathroom and wash my tired face. He have been crying all night leaving sleepless. I stay in the bathroom for a little bit longer and take deep breaths. After I go out of the bathroom, I see Igneel waking up. He's staring at the ceiling. His big eyes full of wonder as he stares around the room. I watch his legs kick. "Hello Igneel." I whisper and pick him up. I see in his eyes that he's still tired. He starts to cry loudly as I rock him back and fourth.
"Shh, don't cry. Nothing is going to hurt you, no need to cry." I say. I kiss his forehead and hum softly. His cries dies down but still goes on. I sigh and start to sing for him. "Don't you ever grow up, it could stay this simple. I won't let nobody hurt you, won't let no one break your heart. And no one will desert you. Just try to never grow up, never grow up." I sing quietly, unaware of Natsu at the door way. I skip some parts of the song and sing on of my favorite parts from it.
"Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room. Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home. Remeber the footsteps, remember the words said. . ."
I suddenly hear Natsu behind me. "Sometimes I wonder that if I can possibly love you more than I do now but then you go off proving me wrong." Natsu says. You giggle and hand Igneel to Natsu. Igneel stops crying and looks at Natsu. "Hello my little dragon!" he says. Igneel giggles in response. Igneel babbles something.
"What was that Igneel?" I say. "Dappy! (Daddy)" Igneel babbles. Me and Ntasu both grin widly at the same time. "His ver first word! Daddy! Daddy!" Natsu says in excitement.
I clap my hands. "Igneel can you say mommy?" I say. Igneel looks at me and smiles. "Mimmy. (Mommy)" I smile but look at Natsu. I can see some tears in his eyes. "My little boy just said mommy and daddy. . ." Natsu whispers. I walk to him and kiss him in the cheek. "Our little boy." I say.
