Fragmented memories remain
All that she can see
for a moment
is one so very different than her,
one that she'd never expected to meet
Akko feels her eyes close
and remembers the gentle feel of being
in Amanda's arms
She remembers laughing,
playing silly seeming games
with her,
dancing when they'd figured they'd try it out,
tripping over her feet,
apologizing before Amanda does tease her
for that
She remembers kisses
that tasted sweeter than cherries,
sweeter than the lullabies that a young child hears
before bed
She remembers the gentle and sweet tug of proximity,
remembers racing hearts and jokes
that always seemed particularly funny and teasing,
remembers how sweet that embrace was,
remembers laughing and clinging close to her
Akko doesn't see the world the same
as she did when she was younger
nor as she did before she met Amanda,
The world shifted and became her,
became an element of Amanda
that tempted Akko like nothing else did
She'd always longed for that ability,
longed for the gentle embrace of being Amanda's one and only,
misses her and everything that she was
like she'd never missed anything else
She doesn't count the tears
as they slip down.
