Pros and Cons
Harry Potter sat despondently on his bed, silently grumbling over his problem.
'It's not fair' thought harry 'I didn't enter the Triwizard Tournament. I never wanted eternal fame and more riches. And now I have to come up with a date for a ball I didn't know about until McGonagall told me. ' Harry Kicked his trunk and
Harry ran a hand through his hair, making it messier than ever. His mind drifted over his choices for a date. 'Not a Slytherin, even if I fancied one, I couldn't conquer the Gryffindor -Slytherin rivalry in 2 weeks. It would have to be someone either in my year or one of the ones on either side. Someone I can talk to which basically leaves Gryffindor. So my choices are Parvati, Lavender, Hermione, Ginny and Katie Bell. Now what do I do?"
"Make a list" sounded a voice that sounded remarkably like Hermione in his head.
Harry opened his trunk and pulled out parchment and a quill. He spread out 5 pieces of parchment and wrote a girl's name on each followed by two columns labelled 'Pros' and 'Cons'.
'Now all I have to do is come up with the lists'
'Ginny first. Pretty, likes Quidditch, seems nice. Ron's sister, hero worship, barely know her.
'Pavati. Very pretty, interesting, seems interested in Quidditch. Gossiper, interested in fashion make up and other girly stuff, very little in common.
"Hermione. Pretty, smart, lots in common, doesn't gossip or spend forever on clothes or fashion. Not a fan of Quidditch, have already been through everything with her so no stories to tell. Could ruin our friendship if we began dating.
'Lavender. Pretty much the same as Parvati but has a 'reputation'.
Katie. Pretty, Quidditch fan, friends for years, lots of things in common and lots to talk about, spends reasonable amount of time on fashion and clothes. Older than me, different years, may be bored.
Harry looked at the 'profiles' before him trying to decide which one he was going to ask. All were pretty, conversable and had many good points each. As he weighed each choice he tried to imagine which person would be the easiest person to be with. In the end he picked Katie Bell, simply because he really could not think of anything negative about her. And maybe the secret crush he had been harbouring since the first Quidditch match might have influenced his choice somewhat.
The next day Harry asked Katie to the Ball and she accepted. Katie and Harry became boyfriend and Girlfriend on Christmas Eve and Harry would eventually ask for Katie's hand in marriage just after his graduation from Hogwarts as Head Boy. Voldemort had been dealt with because Katie had helped Harry train in advanced magic and Harry had managed to land a lucky shot on Voldemort, causing him to be defeated and all his death eaters ran away, fearing the boy who conquered their master. They were all caught within two years, with no one believing them when they cried 'Imperious Curse'.
Katie and Harry went on to have 3 children 2 boys and a girl who were all brilliant Quidditch players and powerful magic users.
Harry eventually threw out the list he had made to decide his date for the Ball but kept Katie's. Eventually he told Katie about the list and they had it framed over the mantle, for many descendants to see how Harry potter, the boy who conquered, and Katie Bell, the belle of his heart, got together.
The End
