Luke knowing he is going to be stranded a while asks Katara, "Where are we headed next?" Katara replies, "We are heading to the Earth Kingdom to train the avatar here to Earthbend." "What is this bending you speak of" asks Luke. Sokka slaps himself in disbelief. "How can you not know what bending is", says Sokka. Luke replies, "Never mind that, R2 get the ship ready we've got a city to find."
The trio gets on Appa while Luke and R2 climb into their starfighter. While flying Luke asks, "So for every nation there is a specific bending in each one correct?" "Yep," replies Aang. Katara adds, "But the avatar which is Aang can control all the elements fire, earth, water and air, I can only control water and some people cannot bend at all." Luke seeing a lot if stone buildings asks, "Are we here at the Earth Kingdom." "We sure are," replies Sokka. On the ground everyone looks strangely at Luke noticing his strange outfit and his little friend {R2 D2}.Then Katara sees an earth bending school and says Aang should take part in it. Aang decides to take part but says they must find a place to stay first. In town they find an abanded house and decide to live in it.
Back on the street a mentally insane person tries to hit Luke but all he does is just Force pushes the man into a clay pot. Everyone looks at him in shock. Aang asks, "Are you an Airbender?" Luke replies, "No that is the Force I used it runs in the family." Everyone else just carries on. Aang later enrolls in the classes but finds it to difficult to comprehend. Then he hears about an underground earthbending tournament and decides to look there for a teacher. After watching a couple matches Aang sees Toph a blind but very skilled earthbender. The gang decides to include her in the gang but when Aang confronts her she won't teach him. Luke then says, "Well it appears our teacher just ran off." R2 nudges Luke in anger and says, {translation} "Yeah thanks for pointing out the obvious." Aang decides the best way to find Toph will be to find her home. They over hear someone speaking about a Bei Fong family. When Katara tries to ask them where Toph lives they won't speak. Luke asks why they say there're not in the mood to talk to strangers. Luke waves his hand in front of one of the boys and says, "You will tell us where the girl lives". The boy replies, "I will tell you where the girl lives, she lives just a couple blocks down with her rich family." "Thank you" replies Luke. The trio looked dumbstruck at Luke, Katara in shock asks, "How did you do that?" Luke replies, "It all has to do with the Force."
Further on they reach the Bei Fong's home. The guard at the door says, "Sorry no visitors allowed" and when they try to get past him he pulls out a sword. Luke out of fear pulls out his lightsaber and ignites it. Everyone except R2 look on in fear and curiosity.
