Fun and games were very important on the Island of Sodor. Children and engines both enjoyed playing games the most.

James and Percy were particularly excited, as they were about to play a new adaption of a traditional children's game- Truck Scotch!

The game was played in a similar manner to Hopscotch- the trucks were biffed and the number of rails they passed along was squares.

James went first. He biffed a truck and it went seven squares with one big shunt.

Percy was very impressed.

Next he took his turn. He managed to get eight squares- one more than James.

But James just smirked, and after taking his shot, was up by a further six squares.

Percy felt cross, and decided to aim for seven. But he forgot to pay attention and biffed the truck too soon, so he only got three squares.

This continued until James claimed victory for moving his truck the furthest.

"That was fun!" Peeped Percy. "Do you want to play again tomorrow?"

"Yes!" Replied James, "...and this time it will be tough!"

That night, the rain came on and boy, did it come down! The rails were made slippery so when the two engines found out that morning, they were very happy.

So after telling the other engines a bit about their game, they both set for the same place that they were at the previous day.

James went first again once the game was set up. He biffed the truck as hard as he could.

But it only glided along four squares. James pouted- he was close to a five, plus he had done better yesterday.

"Never mind," His driver said. "You'll have your next turn to improve."

James hoped so.

Percy was next. He biffed the truck... And it moved TEN squares!

"Wow!" Gasped Percy, excitedly. "I want to see how far I can it now!"

So he took another turn.

But James saw, and he was not very happy

"You cheated!" He snapped "You took a second turn!"

"I only wanted to see how far it would go!" Percy protested.

"You probably just did that so you'd win!"

"Enough, you two!" James' driver intervened. "Cheating can get a bit exciting at times, but I do think that playing fair would be more fun than cheating."

The two engines agreed.

Percy and James continued until Percy swiped the victory!

"Well done Percy!" Congratulated James

"Thanks James." Replied Percy. "I know now that playing fair is a lot more fun than cheating!"

So after that, neither of them cheated on a game.
