Just a one shot. I had to write a horror story for my French course, so I decided to alter it a bit so that I was able to post it here.

Enjoy!

After all, it's just a game, isn't it?

The Earth. The blue planet. The third planet of the sun.

Somewhere in this world, a small boy in an abandoned street was doing a very strange thing. He jumped constantly on the same place while saying the same number. 23.

There are a lot of strange people on this blue planet, but this boy was very strange. I mean, how many people jump constantly on the same place while saying number 23?

On a beautiful day, someone finally passed this abandoned street. The reason? Unknown.

The young man stopped his walk, blew his blonde hair out of his eyes, and walked closer for a better view of the small boy. The little kid was hidden in the shadows of the trees. The young man approached him and asked, "What are you doing, my boy? You are all alone here, in this abandoned street."

Not stopping with jumping, the small boy looked at him and replied, "Ah, me, I play a game. This is very funny, do you want to try… or maybe, do you want to join me?"

The boy didn't want to say what he was doing all alone in this abandoned street.

The young man hesitated for a second, but then decided to play a little while with this game of the small anonymous boy. It wasn't as if it was life threatening, wasn't it? And the boy looked so lonely…

"How do we play this game then?"

"Come here! It is very simple. Just do what I did before. Repeat 23 and jump here at the same time " He pointed at a spot on the ground.

The young man thought it as crazy, but listened to the small boy and did what the little boy explained so carefully to him. The young man repeated the number 23 and jumped on the place where the small boy was previously. Before he could do anything, he fell in a hole that just appeared out of nowhere. But what was worse, the hole looked bottomless. The 23 that he said quickly became a cry. A cry of fear.

The small boy smiled victoriously and continued his game while jumping on the same place where the hole was just a couple of seconds ago. This time, he said the number 24.

Three days later, a young lady passed. "What are you doing, cute little boy?" Two sparkling amethyst eyes looked up at her.

"I play a game! Do you want to play with me?"

She never saw the grin of the boy, or the change of his eye colour…
