Could the beeping noise get any louder? Having to see her so helpless pained him. He urged her heart to keep beating. How was he to go on in a future without her? Even though he knew he could never be over something so tragic, he had to go on for his daughter. Not for him, he couldn't imagine a life without her. Why had he waited so long to say "I love you" ? the thought and seeing her like this was enough to kill him.
Seeing the red stains on her clothes and knowing it was blood from her gun shot wound made him sick. There was a chance but it came too late. He saw the shooter and he tried but the shooter got a shot in. The sound of the gun rang in his ears. He knocked her down, out of the line of fire, and saw the shot. The red, her blood, her pain. He saw her face and begged her not to leave him. "Stay with me." Those words and seeing her fight for her life was slowly robbing him of air.
Time screwed him over. "Kate, I love you. I love you Kate." Seeing the tear run out of the corner of her left eye. Her not speaking. Her closing her eyes. Him holding her, holding on to his life. The love he waited for.
He silently begged for her to be ok. She had to be. He begged for time not to screw him over again.
