Gandolfs reaction to the Becons
"You must not fail me!" Gandalf the white told the young hobbit, Peregrine Took before he ran off to climb that enormous cliff to light the Becons.
Gondor needed Rohan's help, war was coming and they were out numbered by men.
And the only way to ask from someone so far away was if somebody was brave enough to climb over two hundred feet to light the Becons and climb back down. But it's been years since they've been lit, maybe ages!
Pippin (short for peregrine) was very scared about climbing the slippery cliff but he had to admit to himself that he wanted to do this more than anything in the world!
It was his only chance to prove to Gandalf that he is not a fool and that he is a very helpful hobbit!
He ran his way as fast as his big hairy hobbit feet would take him to the slippery cliff were the becon sat on top of a big pile of fenced wood.
He'll see, Pippin thought to himself as he started to climb up the cliff which was not entirely as tall as he thought it would be! But it was very high!
"Don't look down, don't look down" Pippin repeated to himself as he climbed higher and higher up the cliff, his long hobbit cape blew behind him in the breeze.
For once in his life, Pippin really took in all his energy to do something important! And it wasn't chugging down bottles of Ale with Merry at the Green Dragon, it was lighting the Becons to help the entire city of Gondor!
This was work and it was very dangerous, not to mention that he was now over a hundred feet high and that his feet or hands would slip every ten minutes or so.
Just think of the shire, Pippin thought to himself as he reached for another sharp and edgy surface that would give him another boost like the others.
Oh how Pippin missed the Shire! He missed stealing things from farmer Maggots crop! And crawling up the hills of the hobbit holes and jumping up and down on them then quickly running away.
He also missed jumping on random sheep and having them throw him off or carry him around Hobbiton. But he really missed was his warm comfy hobbit bed and The Green Dragon. He hoped with every fiber in his body that he would be home again.
What seemed like ages Pippin has finally reached the top of the cliff, he slowly and carefully got over to the pile of wood, his limbs feeling like jelly from all his climbing.
But no matter how tiered or starving he was he managed to pick the lantern up and throw it down into the wood and it instantly started burning.
Pippin smiled in triumph that he has finally done something right, then he carefully started to climb his way down.
Climbing down was a lot harder but it was all worth it for Pippin. Gandalf will be so proud of me, Pippin thought to himself proudly.

Gandalf the white looked up to see that the Becons were lit, and that Pippin has not failed him!
"YES!" Gandalf shouted before he fist pumped the air, causing a few people who were walking by to stare at him weirdly, but he didn't care.
He then started to pump his staff in the air in victory, however he did not notice above him that Denathor was just above him eating cooked chicken, and Denathor had no idea that Gandalf was just below him.
So every time that Gandalf staff pumped the air it would smack Denathor in the chin, practically chewing his food for him.
After at least three minutes Gandalf finally settled down and finished with his staff pumping.
Denathor growled to himself and rubbed his now swollen and throbbing chin.
"I forgot how much I hate wizards" he muttered to himself before he shoved a piece of bread in his mouth.
