Meredith POV

I was having a perfectly normal day at the hospital. You know, other than the fact that I was super hormonal due to my pregnancy.

I walked into my long-time patient, Stacy's room and looked at her chart when she spoke up.

"Dr. Grey?"

"Yes?" I asked, looking up from the chart.

"Do you have anything to do with the name 'Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital'?" Stacy asked curiously.

My eyes immediately fell to the floor and I smiled a bit.

"Sort of. It's after my sister, Lexie. She died a few months ago." I said plainly.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." She said.

"It's okay." I sat down on a chair in the room.

"It was a plane crash. Me, my husband, Lexie, my husband's best friend, my best friend, and one of our friends on this plane. It crashed and Lexie got crushed by a piece of the plane." I started.

Stacy loved to hear stories about me or my family, so I figured, why not?

"Lexie came here about five years ago for her internship. I found out that she was my paternal half-sister and we ended up getting close."

"But the main part of her time in Seattle was spent with my husband's best friend, who was right by her side while she was dying, Mark."

"She was the one girl that my husband wanted him to stay away from, but I think that made her even more appealing. They started sleeping together, and then they started dating, which my husband was not very happy about. They fell in love, like, crazy in love, and dated for about a year until Mark's eighteen year old daughter that he had no idea he had showed up and things got a bit more complicated."

"His daughter, Sloan, was pregnant and he wanted to help her raise the baby. But Lexie didn't want to be a twenty-five year old grandmother and sort of made him choose between her or Sloan. He chose Sloan, she left and dyed her hair blonde."

"A little while later Sloan left and Mark kept on trying to get Lexie back. She had dated another one of our friends, Alex, but they broke up after a shooting that happened around three years ago where Alex got shot and she had to struggle with PTSD."

"Sloan ended up coming back just when she was going into labor, but she decided to have it adopted and left again."

"Eventually Mark and Lexie started dating again. But when they were broken up Mark had slept with his other best friend, Callie, who is a lesbian, and Callie got pregnant. So when Lexie found out she broke up with him again."

"Okay, so she fast forwards a year to when they were both dating other people, but they were in love with each other. Mark was dating someone who wanted same things he wanted, which was a wife and kids. Lexie wanted the same things, just not right then."

"Anyway, Lexie admitted her love for him a few weeks before she had died, and when he saw her stuck under part of the plane, he told her he loved her, too, and started telling her about the life they were going to have. She died, and then he died a few days after we were found."

"And that is how the hospital got its new name. Mark Sloan and Lexie Grey." I finished.

Stacy was in tears.

"That is the saddest, sweetest thing I've ever heard!" Stacy exclaimed.

"Believe me, while it was happening, it was anything but 'sweet'." I laughed a little. "But yes, it was very romantic."

My pager went off. "I'll check on you later, Stacy." I said before running out of the room.

So that was my quick little one-shot type thing. I had this idea and thought "Why not post it?" So, I did.
