Hey Guys, FairytaleBeliever123 here. This is first chapter story in a while and my first harry potter story that isnt simply a oneshot. The idea orginnally sprouted from a story i told myself in an attempt to get to sleep. I decided to write it now as i am suffering from post-potter disorder and figured a lot of you might be too, so I hope you enjoy. xXx

A dull mist lay across the land and no stars were visible in the black night's sky. A fox was creeping silently through the night in search of prey to feed its starving cubs and an owl hooted in disjointed harmony with a wolf's howling in the distance.

A lanky teenage boy with hair as black as coal of about seventeen years of age lay unconscious in the middle of a damp, cold field. The fox spotted the figure and a hungry look appeared in its eyes. Stealthily it made its way over to where the boy was lying.

It sniffed up the boy's legs and along his torso, delighting in the smell of fresh blood on the boy's skin. It licked along a gash on the side of his face and the boy started. A pair of fascinating emerald eyes shone out from between the strands of his mop of hair, they fixed themselves on the form of the fox and he yelped loudly at the predatory look in its eyes causing the fox to run quickly away into the dark.

The boy took in his surroundings, completely disorientated; a hand reached up to run through his hair and rub at the skin of his forehead and came into contact with a lightening shaped scar on his forehead. He searched his brain for any memories especially any about who he was and where he was but his mind was an empty void.

Gradually a picture came of the front of his mind. A boy who was his double ( although he did not realise this as he had no recollection of his own outward appearance) was stood in front of a tall, ginger, curly haired girl who had a mischievous glint in her eye almost hidden by the tears that were threatening to fall. The picture boy had a beautiful silver ring spotted with rubies in his hand and it glinted in the sunlight of the obvious dry summer's day.

The boy thought the girl was a beautiful creature and felt his heart twinge at the sight of her but he could not diagnosis why. He watched as the boy in his mind put the ring on a chain and link around the girl's pale, freckled neck. Two whispered phrases came to the front of his mind,

"This is a promise ring. I promise I'll come back to you!"

Then as quickly as the memory had materialised, it disappeared again and the boy lost all recollection of it.

…

Hundreds of miles away, the girl from the vision with red-rimmed eyes and blood splattered pale skin sat in the middle of the silent and still ruins of a destroyed castle, there was a distant hum of a melancholy celebration but the girl sat amidst the bodies of friends and foes alike and felt no desire to 'join the party'. A tear ran down her cheek as she thought over the events of the past year which climaxed the previous night, it added to the dried tear tracks already forming passages across the surface of her skin.

Looking to the sky and spotting a full moon, she whispered,

"Where are you, Harry? You said you'd come back to me, that we'd be together!"

To be continued…
