"Hello Betty." Betty lifted her eyes to meet the eyes of one of the last persons she ever expected to see again. Her lips drew in tightly.
Veronica stiffened across from the blonde. "Who is this B?"
"No one important." Betty kept her eyes on the blue green eyes of the blonde teenage boy whom was standing next to their blanket in the meadow.
"Leave." Veronica growled low in her voice as she glared up into the very familiar see of blue green eyes ... but she wasn't going to accept these eyes on this person. Not when Betty is hurt by him.
He sighed as he tucked his hands into his stone washed jeans. "I'm sorry that I left Betty. I'm sorry that I left you and Polly ..." He breathed in deeply through his tight chest. "I had to get out. I would have gone mad other wise."
"Leave." Veronica ordered once more.
"Why did you come back?" Betty couldn't keep the question from her lips. She stared up into her older brother's eyes. "Why Chic?"
Chic knelt down on his knees. "I missed you and Polly. I miss my sisters." He shook his head. "I should have stayed. I shouldn't have taken the first chance I got to leave ... not the way I did." He sighed as his right hand rose to run roughly through his hair.
Tears sparkled in Betty's eyes as she stared into her brother's soft broken eyes. "I never would have thought I would say this to you but ..." she breathed in. "Would you believe it if I said I missed you?"
Chic silently nodded.
