February 4th

The school bell rang, signalling the end of class for the day. Star gathered her belongings, and exited the room. Reaching her locker, she was about to throw her books in when she noticed two red roses. She looked around the halls, but didnt see anyone that would have possibly put the roses in there. Shrugging, she placed her books in her locker before taking the roses out, careful not to prick herself. She sniffed them, smiling softly when she felt something drop on her foot. She looked down, spotting a small card. She bent down, picking it up and read it.

"I hope that you will accept this small token of my love.

Sincerly,

your secret admirer"

By this point, Star figured that was just a hoax that someone must have been put up to do. Rolling her eyes, she tossed the card into her locker and shut the door, taking the roses home with her.

When Monday rolled aruond, she found, yet again anothe two roses. No one attached this time. Again, she took the roses home.

By Friday, February 11th, she had exactly 11 roses fulling a vase at home.

Star sighed, sitting at the kitchen table as she stared at the roses. A small card had accompanied the rose she had received on Friday. A promise to meet on the school roof on Monday after classes were over. Throughout the week, her doubt of it being a hoax began to disappitate. Perhaps it was real...Well she'd just have to wait till Monday.

Monday...Valentines Day.

Monday February 14th

Star hurriedly gathered her books, making a beeline for the door once the bell ran. Throwing her books careless into her locker, she went straight to the roof. Opening the door, she walked out, looking around. No one was there.

"Maybe Im early..." she mused to herself, nodding briefly, but unable to help the welling dissapointment that began to grow in her gut. "Yeah, that must be it. I mean, the bell just rang..." she tried to convince herself.

Ten minutes later, her self-pep talk was beginning to unravel, and with still no sign of her 'secret admirer', she came to accept that it must have just been a joke...And she fell for it.

"I hope I didnt make you wait long." A males voice suddenly piped up from behind her. Star spun around, startled.

Emerald green eyes peered at her with a twinkle of amusement in them; brilliant blonde hair hung in a neatly tied braid down his back.

"J-Jack?" Star stuttered out, flustered at the fact that her best friend had caught her up here in such an embarassing state.

"I was hoping that'd be obvious." He commented with a short chortle, stepping over to her ashe pulled out a single red rose, holding it out to her.

Star gaped, mind slowly registering the scene in front of her.

"You're my secret admirer!" She finally spat out. Jack nodded, chuckling as he handed her the rose. "To complete the boquet at your house." He winked once.

Star took it, her mind still in a blur. She opened her mouth, closed it..and opened it again. "I...dont know what to say." She murmured, looking up at him.

"Well I was hoping somewhere along the lines of accepting it." He suggested sheepishly, giving her a lopsided smile.

Star wouldnt help but smiled back, a she nodded. "Of course!"

Jack smiled at her reaction, placing a finger gently under her chin as he tipped her head upward, then proceeded to capture her lips in a soft kiss.

She swore her heart stopped beating at that moment. She had to admit that she had developed more than just friendly feeling for Jack, but never did she think he'd return the same feelings. Once she brought herself back to earth, she wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him back.

What begun as a seemingly Valentines Day hoax, turned out to be the beginning of something very beautiful.
