"Con, I'm going to go out for milk, I want you to clean the flat. It is most definitely your turn." Abby called, grabbing her coat and opening up the front door.
"Yes, Abby." He nodded, closing his laptop. He knew better than to disobey her and he'd not like to face the consequences.
"Thank you!" She smiled, leaving Connor to himself. It would take her just about ten minutes, if she wasn't to get distracted, of course.
Connor stood up and stretched. This felt like the first time he was up all day. Maybe it was, actually. It was twelve in the afternoon and he was still in just his boxers and socks, which wasn't unusual for him. Deciding it was simpler for him to just clean as he was [after all, Abby wanted the flat clean, not him].
"Alright, let's do this," He mumbled, busting open his bedroom door. The only way he ever cleaned, was if he sang. Grabbing a broom, he started the living room.
"I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was…" He jumped a bit, to turn himself around. "To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause!" Seeing Rex look at him, almost strangely, he laughed.
"I will travel across the land, searching far and wide—-" gesturing to the space around him dramatically. "Teach Pokeman to understand the power that's inside!" Hitting his heart, he dunked the broom down.
"Pokemon, it's you and me, I know it's my destiny! Pokemon, ohhh, you're my best friend in a world we must defend! Pokemon, gotta catch them all, a heart so true, our courage will pull us through! You teach me—-"
Pointing to some invisible identity in front of him, before pointing at himself, "I'll teach you, Pokemon, gotta catch them all!"
Spinning around in his socks and twirling the broom, sliding down to the kitchen, he just got louder.
"Every challenge along the way, with courage I will face—-" He pumped his fist in the air.
"I will battle everyday to claim my rightful place!" Holding the broom to his side, he looked over at it.
"Come with me the time is right, there's no better team—-" Sticking it under his arm, as if walking with it, he grinned. "arm in arm, we'll win the fight, it's always been our dream!"
Now raising the broom over his head, he nearly abandoned the idea of sweeping the mess.
"Pokemon! It's you and me! I know it's my destiny! Pokemon, oh you're my best friend, in a world we must defend!" He held it out as if it was a sword, before placing a hand over his heart.
"Pokemon, gotta catch them all! Ohhh, a heart so true, our courage will pull us through. You teach me and I'll teach you, Pokemon! Gotta catch them all, gotta catch them all, Pokemon!"
He sang it a couple times, always switching up the dance moves, unable to be bothered, as he cleaned the counter tops and washed the dishes. Abby had the misfortune of coming home to him and a mop, seeing him singing into it as if it was a mic.
Clearing her throat, she saw him drop the mop and look up, a sheepish smile on his face.
"Hey, Abs. Just cleaning up…" An awkward chuckle escaped his mouth. Oh god, he was going to be cool. He was going to make a good impression on her and now look what he'd done!
"Yeah, could see that." She held back a laugh, though she desperately wanted to crack up.
His face was redder than a tomato, probably the reddest it's ever been in his life. "So how much of that did you see?"
"Enough. I thought you were about to make out with the mop. That would almost be better than the Pokemon theme, though…"
"Well—-" Connor didn't have anything to say, so he just stopped mid-sentence.
"Oh, and Con?" He looked up at her curiously. "Put on a shirt and finish up, yeah?"
"Yes, Abby…" He ducked his head and as she walked away, he began lightly humming the song once again.
He couldn't help himself, even when he got a look from Abby telling him that she knew.
