McSweeten smiles at the woman who had introduced herself as Special Agent Hagen. He knows – absolutely, checked the directory of active agents and the graduate list of the Academy knows – that she isn't FBI, but he can't really bring himself to care. He'd thought she was a little off the first time he had met her but it wasn't until he figured things out that he realised that if he were to have any chance with her, it was best to let sleeping dogs lie.
DEA, he figures, or maybe CIA – not that she's likely to tell him about her real job. Something deep-cover, that he wouldn't want to ask her to talk about. He hopes however, that in time she will at least trust him with her real name, possibly over a real, sit down cup of coffee rather than one drunk on the go.
And besides, the hard, scary part's already done with. He knows she likes him – she leaves him the best presents.
