Here's a drabble that came to me randomly. First posted on my Tumblr.
Step on a Crack
"Mom, mom, mom," six years old Chris cries out through tears as he runs into the house.
Piper rushes out of the kitchen. "What is it? What's wrong?"
"You're okay. You're back's not broken." Chris launched himself at Piper and wrapped his arms around his mother's waist as best he could. Piper held him.
"What are you talking about, baby?" Piper asks her youngest son when his cries lessen. "Where's Wyatt?"
"Wyatt and I were playing and I wasn't supposed to step on the crack but I tripped and did. And Wyatt kept saying I broke your back."
Piper holds back an eye roll. She walks to the open door and sees Wyatt on his bike. "Wyatt Halliwell get in here," she calls.
The eight year old rides his bike to the stairs and hops off. He pushes the kickstand down with his foot and walks over to his mother.
"Apologize to your brother."
"Why?" Wyatt asks.
"For picking on him and lying to him."
"Sorry, Chris," Wyatt says with a shrug. Piper would accept that half-assed apology for now, but she was definitely going to have a talk with her oldest tonight.
"Both of you take your bikes and scooters to the back. It's time to come in."
"Okay," the kids said at the same time. Piper watched as they walked down the Manor steps.
"You're such a baby," she hears Wyatt say. This time she's able to roll her eyes and does.
"No, I'm not," Chris defends. Piper watches her two boys bicker back and forth as Chris rides his scooter next to Wyatt walking his bike to the back of the house.
