Jett stared out his window and blinked slowly. How could I have been so stupid! He thought to himself. Kayla West. The only girl I ever truly loved. Jett sat down on his bed and stared at the picture on his desk. It included himself, his best friend J.B. and his first true love. Kayla West. Fuck her! Jett lay down and drifted off to sleep. While in his dreams, he wondered back to the day Kayla broke his heart.

"Hey Jett get your hands off of me," Kayla screamed. After dragging her behind the tree Jett let go and glared at Kayla. "How the hell could you do that," he screamed. She just stood there with a sly grin on her face. "Do what Jett? Huh?" Jett stared at her in disbelief. He couldn't believe that she was actually asking him that. "Kayla you're with me and your kissing that dickhead!" Kayla stepped back and turned to leave. "It's over Jett, okay. O-V-E-R this relationship isn't what I'm looking for." And with that said, Kayla walked away, leaving Jett to wonder what he did wrong.

Jett woke with a jolt. His muscular body drenched in sweat. He climbed out of bed and stumbled toward his bathroom. Jett started the shower and began peeling his clothes off and climbed in. I have to go somewhere this summer and get away. As he washed the perspiration off his body, he thought of where he could spend the summer. He didn't want to go too far and he didn't want to be too close. That's when his aunt and uncle in Maryland popped into his mind. They lived right on North Beach, perfect. He climbed out of the shower with a smile.

Later on that evening Jett saw Miss Coretta finishing up her quilt. He approached her and placed a kiss on her cheek. "Hey nana," he greeted as he sat down beside her. Miss Coretta stopped her knitting and stared at her great grandson. She always knew when Jett had something on his mind and right at that moment he did. "What do you have brewing in that head of yours Jett," Miss Coretta asked. Jett picked up the yarn and tossed it between his hands. "What do you think about a vacation up in Maryland?" Miss Coretta resumed her knitting and answered," That should be good for you. You need to take your mind off of things down here. Especially since you're going to be a senior next school year." Jett smiled and nodded his head. A senior, his own man. Miss Coretta looked at up and saw him smiling. "I haven's seen that handsome smile for the last month." "I have something to smile about," Jett said and gave Miss Coretta another kiss. "I'll talk to dad about it later. I'm going over J.B's." "Okay," Miss Coretta answered.
