Lost Light
chapter 1
The clock rang.
"Annoying…" he thought, blindly searching for the covers to pull the up to his face. Unfortunately, he never found them, so he turned to his right and sighed. He got up from his bed slowly looking out from the window. The light was too strong that it nearly blinded him. Since that day, the sunlight had always been too strong for him to handle… since the day Aichi disappeared. Kai sat up and realized that he was still in his school uniform, because he was too busy yesterday. With another sigh, he decided to go to school.
"In time…" he thought. Kai's first period was science, but his teacher said that he would be introducing a new student to his class. The school bell rang and Kai hurried to his class and sat on his desk. "There's a new student coming today. Please come in," the teacher said. Kai wasn't interested so he turned around to the window. "U-um, I am Sendou Aichi. N-nice to meet you!" the blue-haired boy greeted nervously. Kai's eyes widened with surprise. He nervously turned around to see Aichi himself, the real Aichi.
"Thank you. Please have a seat next to Kai Toshiki" the teacher pointed at the seat next to Kai.
"u-um nice to meet you Kai-san!" he said with a warm smile. Kai's heart began beating from the inside. He finally finds Aichi and all he says is 'nice to meet you'?
"A- Aichi…"
"Huh?" Aichi blinked with his innocent eyes.
"Why are you here?" Kai asked very confused. Aichi tilted his head slightly and glanced at Kai, who was staring at him with terrified eyes. "Um…" Aichi slowly sat down slowly next to Kai.
"It's nothing," Kai turned to face the window, his heart frozen and his blood dry. He couldn't think of anything except Aichi. How could he have never recognised him? Kai's only light had been lost. He had to find it, his memories. "Kai answer this question please," Kai thought deeper about Aichi's disappearing memories. "Kai-san, Kai-san, the teacher is calling you!" Aichi shook Kai out of his thoughts. "Aichi? Hm?" Kai blinked. He realized that the teacher was calling him so he answered.
"Good." the teacher said and tapped the board, returning to his lecture.
It was lunch time and Aichi was waiting for the person assigned to show him around school to how up, until Kai grabbed his wrist. Aichi flinched and Kai had realized how strong his grip was, so he let go of Aichi's wrist. "Kai-san?" he asked.
"Aichi, don't you remember? Ishida Naoki, Tokura or Katsunagi Kamui?" Kai demanded.
"Sorry, but I don't really recognise these names," Aichi replied nervously.
"Do you know Vanguard?" Kai asked.
"Oh yes! The famous game! I don't really know how to play, but I have always wanted to…" Aichi said looking down to the ground. Kai's eyes widened and his fists clenched.
He was definitely going to bring back the Aichi he once knew.
