Summary: Hogwarts puts on a fireworks display for its remaining students.

A fireworks display in the midst of a war seemed somewhat redundant. Nevertheless, with the Headmaster dead, the Potions master turned traitor, and nearly half the student body conspicuously absent at start of term (and more leaving every day), it was the unanimous decision of the remaining staff that something must be done to raise morale, if only for one night.

Ginny had to admit, from her vantage point on the grass, sharing a blanket with Luna, watching the brilliant explosions over the lake being reflected in the still, dark water (all fireworks provided by Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, of course), that they had a point. She was almost distracted from the fact that her entire family, not to mention several of her closest friends, were currently in mortal peril. Watching the brilliant rainbow painted against the deep blue sky, she could almost forget the overwhelming feeling of powerlessness that had plagued her ever since she had given in to her mother's insistence that she return to school instead of joining her brothers in the Order.

A loud blast and a brilliant burst of bright red above could almost chase the thoughts away, shove them to the back of her mind, but it was not until Luna leaned closer, radiating heat, that they truly departed. Then, as the blonde slid one pale hand slowly up under her robe, unseen, as all nearby eyes were riveted on the pyrotechnics above, Ginny bit her lip, closed her eyes and saw fireworks.
