Prisoner
"Don't give up!"
"Come on Sora! Together, we can do it!"
He pulled at the doors; gloved fingers slipping on the sleek surface as he drew the doors of his own prison to close. His muscles felt so weak; unused and untrained and leaden on his body. He looked at the boy on the other side of the door; pushing and forcing himself against the door and closing his eyes so he didn't have to see him.
Didn't have to see the boy who was prisoner of the darkness. He closed his eyes too; in concentration, he was pretending. But he couldn't look at the Sky so well anymore; too deeply submerged in the depths. And they were so, so clearly separated it hurt to remember they used to be so inseperable.
He was suffocating now; losing his breath as he watched hope thin away as the doors closed. He smiled, too. Braved one last confident smirk at the boy(who was naïve, was full of hope, full of life and wise in the way a child could be).
"Take care of her." That wasn't what he wanted to say! He wanted to scream, claw at the door and force himself through the gap and escape it. He wanted to ask him to stay and help; save him from the darkness and remind him of the light; of all that innocence lost and naivete that was crushed by the dark.
He wished she was there too; because together they could do everything.
Instead, this boy (who became a man, who became old and felt like dying) lied to himself again(I'm scared of the darkness); and told the other boy he'd be okay.
But as the crack thinned into but a thread of light, he closed his eyes and looked away.(He doesn't need to see me cry.) Everything swam before him as the keys were raised and the door was locked; seething and evaporating in a breathtaking show of lights.
He let out what he was holding; his breath, his tears, his regrets. And he looked back at the void in front of him and fell unto his knees(praying for release, for pardon and mercy and a way to atone for all those things he'd done); defeated and chained down in his prison with no escape.
