After the war had ended, Teddy Lupin became the light of his grandmother's life. Stripped of her husband, her daughter and son in law, he was the only family she had left. Bellatrix had been killed at Hogwarts, but not before taking the life of Andromeda's only child, her precious little girl. And as far as she was concerned, Narcissa was dead to her, as Nymphadora's death had sealed the fate of their already broken relationship. Teddy was one thing to hold on to, to never let go of. Andromeda saw so much of her spunky daughter in the little boy, the twinkle he got in his eyes when he smiled, how he loved the muggle fairy tales, how his hair changed colors when he sneezed. Andromeda loved her little boy, always there for him, hugging him while he cried, helping him do the right thing, and reading his favorite story to him at bedtime. Andromeda thought her grandchild was the universe repenting to her for all her suffering, and that she would always be there for him like she had with his mother. She raised him to be a wonderful child, to always put others before himself and to treat others with kindness. The world was a dark place, Andromeda knew that. She was determined to protect Teddy from it's evils, he had already suffered the loss of his parents, a burden no child should ever face. She held her grandson, watching him grow and be happy, even when the world seemed bleak with its headlines of death and sickness and destruction. Andromeda really believed her grandson would live a long full life, much longer than that of his parents.

Until Teddy caught Dragon Pox.

The horrid sickness had been going around wizarding England, taking a steady toll of victims. Andromeda wasn't worried, Teddy was safe, he couldn't catch the sickness that had claimed so many lives.

But she was so wrong.

It started with a fever, followed by a cough. Within days, Teddy was bedridden and Andromeda and the Weasleys feared death was coming for him. She went to check on her little boy one night, to make sure he was alright. What she saw was a deep blow to her. Her grandson, just eight years old, laid in his bed, pale and sweaty with shallow breathing. Andromeda knew death was coming. But she wouldn't let it come to him. She pointed her wand at his sleeping form and whispered that fateful incantation.

"Tolleillum, nolime."

The tip of her wand was lit in a soft, green glow, which turned into an orb of light floating towards Andromeda. Nymphadora had died to make the world a better place for her child. Andromeda would die to ensure he lived in it.

Andromeda Tonks passed away one week later, her body had been too old and weak to fight Dragon Pox. Teddy sobbed while her body was lowered into the earth, the last of his birth family gone forever. He never learned of his grandmother's sacrifice, how she had saved his life by offering hers. Under the parenting of Harry and Ginny, he became a wonderful young man that married an equally wonderful woman. And even though he wasn't aware of it, his family watched him from the heavens. Andromeda watched him marry the woman he loved, she watched him smile when her great grandson was born, she watched him read fairy tales to his children. And although this, she smiled. And many years later, when Teddy arrived to join his family in soul, she rushed towards him, enveloping him in a bone crushing hug.

Her little boy was finally home.
