Summary: Musings on beauty.
Hermione has many reasons for disliking Fleur. The girl is silly, stuck-up, self-involved and shallow. A whole plethora of negative words, really, many of them beginning with 's.' She thinks the world revolves around her, and if the world believes otherwise, well, it had just better change its mind. Now.
But the truth is, Hermione's mind is made up regarding Fleur before the blonde so much as opens her mouth. Not usually one to judge people before getting to know them, she makes an exception immediately upon seeing the look on Ginny's face as the Beauxbatons girls flounce into the Great Hall.
It is a look that speaks volumes about Ginny's thoughts on what beautiful is, and Hermione ca read it as clearly as any book. It says beautiful is thin and tall and blonde and currently prancing about the room (and really, would they sit down already?). It also says plenty about what beautiful is not, namely, plain, mousy, bushy-haired and bookwormish.
Hermione has her own thoughts on beauty, and the real reason that she loathes Fleur already is that, even wearing that look, the most beautiful thing she has ever seen is sitting right beside her, looking at someone else.
