Set at the end of The Headless Witch in the Woods in that BB 'guy hug'
He told her it was a guy hug. He told himself it was a guy hug.
But there was something in the way he rubbed her back, in the way his big fingers caressed her hair, in the way the hug lasted much longer than any hug he's had with any guy, and most women (in fact the only hug he could think of that was longer was the one when he and Rebecca had find out they were pregnant), there was something about it, or maybe it was everything about it, that made a part of him know that it was so much more than a we're-partners-and-you're-practically-a-guy-to-me hug.
He was determined not to bury his nose in her hair, but the scent of her was enough that when he took of his jacket that evening, he could smell where her wrists had sat – her perfume was something sweet, something he recognised whenever she walked into the room.
He tried very hard not to close his eyes and enjoy her touch. He pretended later on that he succeeded.
There was something about it, maybe it was everything about it, that made a part of him know that it was so much more than a guy hug.
