Author's Note: This takes place in the 3rd book, right after Buckbeak is sentenced.
I sit at the table, arranging my books to block out Ronald. I take out a fresh sheet of parchment and my books start to shake. I grab onto the table to steady myself and it shakes vigorously, the power growing by the second. My Arithmancy book rises from the table and all my books, parchment, ink, quills, and book bag rise up and follow it, as if the Arithmancy book is leading an army. I hear voices and dark creatures in cloaks surround me. Why don't you take a break….. You can hang out with me….. It'll be fun….. You can calm down for a bit… I promise, I won't hurt your friend Harry…. We just want to give you a Kiss... I shake my head furiously and grip harder on the table. Come on… Don't you want to go to breakfast… Hermione… Hermione…. Hermione…..
"Hermione. Hermione!"
I jolt up with a start, doused in sweat. Lavender Brown stands over me, looking worried.
"W-what happened? It was a dream. Just a dream." I sigh.
"Come on Hermione, it's time for breakfast in the Great Hall. You need to calm down, okay? You were tossing and turning. Saying something about keeping Harry safe. You woke Parvati. She was really scared. Ron and Harry didn't hear, but- I suppose they would like to know."
"No! Please don't tell them Lavender! Ron would just blame me for it again." The back of my throat burns and my eyes sting. I turn away from Lavender and she puts a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"Hermione, I know you took on way too much and you're scared to admit it. But please, try to have a fun time once in a while. Christmas holidays are coming up, and I won't be here to calm you down. Okay? Let's go."
After I have changed into my robes, Lavender, Parvati and I head downstairs. Everyone is already stuffing their faces with breakfast, especially Ron.
"Morning Hermione! I mean- er- hello."
"Hi Ron." Harry glances between the two of us, who are uncomfortably squeezed across from Harry and Seamus Finnigan.
Harry begins telling Ron about some Quidditch thing, and I let my gaze wander to the only boy I care to see right now: Draco Malfoy.
He is speaking animatedly to his two goons, Crabbe and Goyle, and he catches me staring. He winks and I know the next class will be hard, we have double potions together. After the Owl post has come, and nothing for me of course due to my sweet but unknowing parents, everybody heads to their first class.
After Potions we have Care of Magical Creatures with Hagrid, and I am not looking forward to it after the whole thing with Draco hurting himself happened. I feel bad for both Hagrid and Draco, but most of all Buckbeak.
I wonder what new, interesting things we'll do in class today. Please, please, not flobberworms again. Oh, who am I kidding? Of course we're doing flobberworms again, I think as I head to class alone.
Sorry it's so short! I am already working on the next chapter so stay tuned!
